10 Actors You Forgot Appeared in the MCU
The MCU has been going strong since 2008. Over the last 12 years, some actors who had small parts in the MCU’s earlier movies have gone on to become movie stars in their own right. Other big names only had bit parts in the films and have been overshadowed by the rest of the Marvel universe. Below are ten actors you probably forgot were in the MCU.
1. Natalie Dormer
Natalie Dormer has had a very successful television career. Appearing in The Tudors and Game of Thrones, she is a very recognisable actress. One who was wasted in Captain America: The First Avenger. She played the role of a woman who kissed Steve Rogers, in order to cause conflict with Peggy Carter.
2. Ty Burrell
The Incredible Hulk still feels very much like the bastard child of the MCU. They have tried to integrate it more, by bringing in General Ross, but it still feels anomalous due to Edward Norton playing the lead. One character we’re probably not going to see again is Ty Burrell’s Leonard Sampson. Sampson was a psychiatrist who dated Betty Ross.
3. Justin Theroux
Justin Theroux did have a role in Iron Man 2. He played a police officer in a cameo role. The reason he appeared in the film is due to the fact he actually wrote the screenplay. His role was so ‘blink and you miss it’, we couldn’t find a picture of him. Here’s one of Tony and Nat instead.

4. Tommy Lee Jones
One of many Academy Award winning actors in the MCU, Tommy Lee Jones also feels wasted. He was great in his role as Colonel Chester Phillips. But with such talent, it’s intriguing to think what other character Jones could’ve brought to life.
5. Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn is no stranger to comic books films. Marvel fans will probably recognise her most from her role as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. However, several years before, Munn played a small part in Iron Man 2. You can spot her as a reporter at the Stark Expo.
6. Zachary Levi
Back in the early 2010s, Zachary Levi was most famous for playing the lovable Chuck on TV. His part on the show landed him a low-level role in the Thor franchise. He played one of The Warriors Three in The Dark World and Ragnarok. Since then, he has gained global acclaim for his role as Shazam!
7. Stanley Tucci
We should thank Stanley Tucci for a lot of things. Mostly for giving Steve Rogers the Super Solider serum and creating Captain America. Yep, Tucci played Dr Abraham Erskine, the German scientist who worked on the formula. A small part, but one that is memorable thanks to Tucci’s performance.

8. Christopher Eccleston
You’d be forgiven for not knowing Christopher Eccleston was the villain in Thor: The Dark World. Unfortunately, his face was buried under a tonne of prosthetic, in order to play Malekith. Eccleston was disappointed with the amount of makeup he had to wear and ultimately, regrets making the film.
9. Kate Mara
Although people are keen to forget the 2015 version of Fantastic Four, Kate Mara did her best as Sue Storm. Before this, she actually had a small part in Iron Man 2. She played the role of a US Marshal who subpoenaed Tony Stark.
10. Michelle Yeoh
Michelle Yeoh was one of the many new faces introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. She played Aleta, one of the people who showed up Yondu’s funeral. Her role is expected to be expanded upon in future Guardians of the Galaxy films.
