The DC Extended Universe has had quite a few ups and down along the way. So movies did well; some not so much. A lot of them had to face some pretty harsh criticism, while some the critics raved about.

Recently, with Justice League: The Snyder Cut being released, things are kinda looking up. In a way it felt like a proper culmination for the past couple of years that made up the DCEU. And the movie has been doing pretty well since its HBO Max release.

The DCEU started with Man of Steel back in 2013; starring Henry Cavill as Superman with Zack Snyder at the directorial helm. The DCEU has slowly been focusing more on individual movies like Wonder Woman and Aquaman which have done pretty well. And the casting, for the most part, has been pretty on point.

There have been movies which didn’t do as well, but the actors from those movies made an impact. So here are 10 best DCEU actors ranked according to how they fit the roles they played:

  1. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

The first person that comes to mind when we think perfect casting is definitely Gal Gadot. She made Wonder Woman her own, and our beloved Princess Diana of Themyscira came to life. Gal Gadot was a relatively unknown face until she was introduced into DCEU through Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; and became an instant hit with the audiences. Now Wonder Woman is one of DCEU’s biggest hits, and Gadot played a major part in that.

  1. Jason Momoa as Aquaman

Jason Momoa became a household name playing Khal Drogo in the premiere season of the fantasy series Game of Thrones. But after that it was years before we saw him on any prominent roles. Then Momoa got cast for the job in Aquaman; and despite all the jokes surrounding the characters, it was easy to see how completely right he was to play the King of the oceans. Since then, Jason Momoa has been a fan favorite, both on and off screen.

  1. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn for the first time in DCEU’s Suicide Squad. And while the movie bombed spectacularly on so many levels; Robbie’s portrayal of the crazy baseball wielding former psychiatrist became a huge hit. She did the role full justice, and is the reason DCEU even agreed to go forward with the Birds of Prey movie after the huge hit it took because of Suicide Squad.

  1. Zachary Levi as Shazam

Zachary Levi has been a favorite of the geek community since he played the leading role in Chuck. Since then, the actor went on to do a lot of superhero related projects, including Thor: The Dark World. But making people connect to Shazam was a difficult, as he is a grown up man playing a teenage boy. But Levi is a kid at heart, and that bleeds into his portrayal of Billy Batson in Shazam. And we absolutely love him for it.

  1. Ben Affleck as Batman

When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman by Zack Snyder for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there was a lot of criticism. But both Snyder and Affleck didn’t let that get to them, and made Batfleck on of the best versions of Batman on screen. Playing an older, more mature version of Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Ben Affleck fit the role perfectly; and even those who were against the casting in the beginning loved how the actor played this fan favorite character from the DC comics.

  1. Ewan McGregor as Black Mask

Ewan McGregor is one of the best actors in the business in today’s date. Having been part of quite a few successful franchises, when DCEU came knocking on his door McGregor took the opportunity to play one of the best villains in the movieverse. Birds of Prey did relatively okay as a movie, but McGregor as Black Mask stole the show in every way possible. But then again, it’s Ewan McGregor, did anyone really expect any less?

  1. Henry Cavill as Superman

Henry Cavill was at the very inception of the DCEU. Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel with Cavill at the center of it gave team DC their way back to the world of superheroes. Being the first in line is not an easy task, but Henry Cavill did a brilliant job at kickstarting this whole universe. As both Clark Kent as well as Superman, Cavill did a great job at portraying both sides of the man; and we can only he continues to give us more of that.

  1. Viola Davis as Amanda Waller

Similar to Margot Robbie, Viola Davis made a name for herself in the Suicide Squad movie; even though the movie didn’t do well. Her strong performance as Amanda Waller – the mastermind behind Task Force X; although did not have a lot to go on, still was able to wow the audiences. She was ruthless, conniving, but also determined, and gave an amazing performance in the movie.

  1. Ezra Miller as Flash

Ezra Miller kind of drew the short end of the stick by being cast as the DCEU’s Flash. The problem as that the audiences already had a Flash they were familiar with – Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen from The CW’s Arrowverse. But that did not deter the young actor, and Ezra made his version of Barry Allen his own. He was vulnerable but also witty and sarcastic, and definitely an adorable dork, and somehow won over the audiences favor with his portrayal in the Justice League.

  1. Chris Pine as Steve Trevor

It’s not easy to be make a mark, when you are not playing the hero of the movie. And given Chris Pine played it against one of DCEU’s heavy hitters like Gal Gadot; it was probably even more difficult. But then again, it is Chris Pine – he is charismatic and an amazing actor; and knows how to hold his own against such heavy hitters. And to no one’s surprise, Pine made Steve Trevor a character that became beloved to everyone who watched Wonder Woman.
