The recent Presidential elections in America will have far-reaching consequences for the country as well as the world in its entirety. As Donald Trump prepares for his swearing-in ceremony, a horde of Hollywood celebrities seem to be catching the next flight out of the country.

Whether it’s Trump’s aggressive immigration policies or his lack of attention to women’s rights, it seems celebrities are exasperated over the President-elect and have vowed not to remain in the country any longer. Read on to know which Hollywood celebrities will be moving out of the USA owing to Trump being re-elected.

Eva Longoria

A staunch supporter of the Democratic party, Eva Longoria has never wavered from expressing her support for the group. On the other hand, she has been deeply critical of everything Trump stands for.

Along with her family, Longoria has moved out of America to move to her ancestral land, Spain. She will be traveling between Spain and Mexico for work as her family settles into their newly bought home. Longoria has moved away from the “dystopian” country, as she called it.

America Ferrera

Another Kamala Harris supporter, America Ferrera does not wish to continue living in America. She is planning to look for schools and houses in the United Kingdom to escape what’s about to come for the country. Trump’s re-election as President has made her rethink her residence for good.

The central reason behind her relocation is an aspiration for a better life for her kids. Ferrera does not want Trump’s aggressive policies to affect her kids in any way whatsoever, so she is packing her bags and moving out.

Ellen DeGeneres

Along with her wife Portia de Rossi, former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has already left the country and moved to the rural town of Cotswold in England. Trump’s re-election sparked this relocation coupled with DeGeneres taking a step back from entertainment and television.

The couple wishes to lead a serene life away from the policies that Trump is poised to make.

Barbra Streisand

A year ago, Barbra Streisand was in full support of Joe Biden as opposed to Trump. She had already made up her mind in case Trump came to power as she told Stephen Colbert,

I will move. I can’t live in this country if that’s … if he became president.

The singer made similar claims back in 2016 but seemingly didn’t follow through. Considering how things have taken shape in the United States of America recently, Streisand may just up and leave to perhaps the UK or Canada.

Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox, a trans activist and actress, is resonating with fears similar to those expressed by other celebrities. She plans to leave America and settle in the Caribbean or Europe. She fears Trump’s ignorant policies might stifle the voice of trans people and she does not wish to be one of them.

She told Variety that a couple of her friends are already on the lookout for new cities and places where they could shift to. Enlisting her fears, she expressed,

I don’t want to be in too much fear, but I’m scared. As a public figure, with all my privilege, I’m scared, and I’m particularly scared because I’m a public figure. I feel like I could be targeted. I think they spent close to $100 million on anti-trans ads. It’s deeply concerning.

Cox raised a great point that hints at people with and without privilege. If celebrities with influence and power in the industry choose to leave the country, what will happen to the common masses who are left at the mercy of the government?

Cher

The world-famous singer Cher is another celebrity looking for a house elsewhere in the world. She told The Guardian,

I almost got an ulcer the last time [Trump was in office]. If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country]. It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass. I was with two trans girls the other night—and of course my own child. I was saying, ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.

Much like Cox, Cher is also afraid of Trump’s policies and actions towards trans people since she has a trans child. The horrific thought of what might happen is enough to spur Cher into action.

Sharon Stone

The Hollywood actress called Trump out of his tactics to mobilize hate and oppression. She claimed that she is looking for houses in Italy in a bid to move to a more calm and peaceful environment.

Though her move has not been confirmed yet, Stone might just usher in the new year in a new country.

Sophie Turner

The Game of Thrones actress has condemned the gun violence and lack of adequate women’s rights in Trump’s agenda. She wishes to move back to London in the midst of this tumultuous time in America. She told Harper’s Bazaar,

The gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned… Everything just kind of piled on. After the Uvalde [school] shooting, I knew it was time to get the f**k out of there.

Because of her divorce and custody arrangement with Joe Jonas, Turner was already moving between the UK and the USA, but it seems like she will stay out of the USA for good.

Miley Cyrus

Disney’s famed singer Miley Cyrus has repeatedly claimed on social media that she will not remain in this country if Trump wins the elections again. She has been a strong supporter of Kamala Harris and even interviewed her to know her stance.

Cyrus has not clarified where she will move to but has clearly stated that she does not wish to continue living in the United States of America with Trump as President. The singer has even backtracked on her comments when users commented on her posts asking her to leave soon.

Minnie Driver

The Good Will Hunting actress Minnie Driver spoke to The Times about the dark times that lay ahead for the citizens of America. With Trump at the helm, the country might just be led into some tough situations.

If I lived in a red [Republican] state, no, I couldn’t. But living in California, you are somewhat insulated. But do you want to go and live in a bubble? Do you run away from the fire or do you go back and help? And I am more hopeful. For all the division in the UK, there just seems to be a more robust connection between us. We have this discourse. We talk about it and we laugh about it. We don’t pull out guns and shoot each other about it.

She has been living in Los Angeles for the past few decades but has chosen to move back to the UK since the re-election.

Saoirse Ronan

Along with her husband Jack Lowden, Little Women fame actress Saoirse Ronan shared how she feels scared whenever she is in America. She recently moved to Ireland with her husband and chose to settle down there. Ronan claimed,

I don’t feel safe here anymore. I go into a cinema here when I’m doing a Q&A to promote a movie that I’m in and I’m not sure if someone’s going to pull a gun out. It’s in your head. That’s an awful feeling. It’s an awful feeling for me to know that my best friends who have just started to have children aren’t feeling 100 per cent safe about sending their kids to school in case they get shot at five years old.

There are friends of mine who are thinking about buying bulletproof backpacks for their children to keep them safe. That’s barbaric and he [Donald Trump] has done this.

The gun violence issues, LGBTQIA+ and women’s rights, and the school shootings have been central concerns for the people of America.
