The 22-year-old Eilish breaks the 87-year-old industry record previously held by Luise Rainer when the singer won her second Oscar at the age of 28.

The Ocean Eyes hitmaker along with her 26-year-old brother Finneas O’Connell walked up to the stage to receive their deserved win. While Elish becomes the youngest in Oscars’ history, O’Connell secured the second position right after her.
What Was I Made For already swept accolades before the Academy Awards and even Barbie director Greta Gerwig called it “Barbie’s heart song”, as revealed by the pop star.
While accepting the honor, Billie Eilish said (via ABC):
“I had a nightmare about this last night… Thank you so much to the academy… I feel like… I just didn’t think this would happen. I was not expecting this. I feel so incredibly lucky and honored.”
The Happier Than Ever maker was holding on to her tears while thanking the director of Barbie for giving her the opportunity and making this happen. Eilish added:
“This goes out to everyone that was affected by the movie and how incredible it is.”
