Daniel Day-Lewis gave up his acting career in 2017, leaving his fans devastated. He relocated to Florence, Italy to give direction to his passion for shoes. Recently, The Boxer actor was seen in public using crutches, which clearly indicated that he must have suffered an injury during his days away from the media spotlight.
Daniel Day-Lewis Spotted In A Rare Outing
Recently, Daniel Day-Lewis was spotted in New York City. He was photographed while coming out of a building with the help of a pair of crutches. As his pictures took over the internet, fans, and followers of the Academy Award-winning actor were concerned about his physical health. The presence of the crutches was a major cause of concern.
As Daniel Day-Lewis has always maintained a very low profile with respect to his social media presence, his rare sighting in New York City became the talk of the town. He was dressed in a black graphic t-shirt, blue athletic pants, and orange-colored sneakers paired with a green baseball cap.
Almost a month ago, the Lincoln actor was photographed in public for the first time after retiring from Hollywood. He was seen walking along with his wife, director Rebecca Miller. Daniel Day-Lewis was seen wearing a pair of yellow sweats, a black zip-up hoodie, and a black baseball cap.

A representative from a famous media outlet also contacted the actor’s team regarding the condition of his physical health, but there was no response from their end.
In 2017, Daniel Day-Lewis’ representative Leslee Dart, had informed through a public statement, that he would “no longer be working as an actor.” The statement mentioned-
“He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision, and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”
Daniel Day-Lewis On Quitting Acting
The day Daniel Day-Lewis announced his retirement from Hollywood, movie buffs and his loyal fans understood that it was an end of an era for the entertainment world. The actor in his 60s holds a record for winning the Academy Awards, three times with his great acting prowess.
He was awarded three Academy Awards in the category of Best Actor in the leading role, for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in 2012, There Will Be Blood in 2007 and My Left Foot in 1989.
The actor even received a knighthood for the contribution of his service to the drama genre of Hollywood. He thanked his writer and director wife, Rebecca Miller, in his 2012 Oscar speech. He had said-
“Since we got married 16 years ago, my wife Rebecca has lived with some very strange men, but luckily she is the versatile one in the family and she has been the perfect companion to all of them.”
