Hollywood’s rising star Steven Yeun has departed from the highly anticipated movie Thunderbolts, after numerous reports suggesting that the actor will debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sentry.

Since Yeun is no longer associated with the powerful and extremely complex role, there has to be another actor who could do justice to MCU’s Sentry. This character isn’t an atypical hero, but has a complex and dual nature, making Sentry one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Universe. Thunderbolts is set for a release next year, and here are the four actors capable of slaying the role of Sentry.

4. Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is among the highly acclaimed actors in the industry, who contributed to last year’s summer blockbuster Barbie. Gosling holds a notable history with superhero roles, as the actor was previously offered to play some of the most iconic characters like Green Lantern, Joker in Suicide Squad, and even Doctor Strange.

However, The Notebook star couldn’t accept the roles due to his preferences. According to Hollywood Handle, Gosling is in talks to join the MCU with a mysterious role. Even more interesting is that Ryan Gosling’s stunning look and physique would make him a perfect Sentry.

3. Alan Ritchson

Another strong contender for Sentry could be the Reacher star Alan Ritchson. The actor has developed a strong fanbase since he stepped into the Prime Video series, and his jaw-dropping looks and exceptional acting skills have left fans calling him to secure the role in Thunderbolts. Ritchson has previously played Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman in Smallville, which is undeniably one of the fan-favorite characters from DC.

Considering the Ghosts of War star’s experience in playing a superhero will add significant credibility to his portrayal. Recently Ritchson shared his desire to play Batman, which implies that the actor is eager to enter the superhero world.

2.  Alexander Skarsgård

Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård could be a notable replacement for Steven Yeun in Thunderbolts, as the actor already has flawless physicality, and extensive experience in action roles, which will allow him to portray Marvel’s most tragic figure among the superheroes. Robert Reynolds has a darker alter ego, and any actor who secures the role has to portray the complexity and terrifying personality of Sentry.

Skarsgård’s long blonde hair and unavoidable muscular physique were captured in his movie The Northman for which the actor played Amleth, a resilient prince who ran away from his kingdom. So considering the actor’s abilities, Alexander Skarsgård fits for the role of Sentry.

Henry Cavill needs no introduction, and since the iconic Superman has departed from DC after decades, fans have been demanding to bring back Cavill in another remarkable role. Considering The Witcher star’s massive fanbase and his incredible experience in slaying action-packed roles, Sentry seems to be nothing less than the perfect chance for Henry Cavill to move to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Reynold was an ordinary man, but once he consumed a serum, it gave him the power of a million exploding suns, transforming him into Sentry who can even surpass the superpowers of Thor, Captain America, and Captain Marvel.  It would be a virtual treat for enthusiasts to witness Cavill entering the MCU through Thunderbolts as the formidable Sentry.

According to THR, Yeun departed from the project due to scheduling conflicts, but fans have been speculating on other reasons for his exit.

Thunderbolts is set to be released in July 2025.
