Keanu Reeves is internet’s boyfriend and just like the perfect boyfriend, he can also do anything. But it seems like he has powers beyond that of any mortal men- he can apparently star in movies which don’t even exist! Come with us to know more about Keanu’s otherworldly powers in the trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Check out the trailer below:
Keanu Reeves Stars As Revan In Star Wars: The Old Republic
Sorry, we kid we kid, yes it’s indeed a fan trailer. It is a creation by mashup editor Stryder HD. He was also the one responsible for the viral clip of Baby Yoda arriving to join the Avengers in the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
The idea in this trailer is to show that Keanu Reeves is portraying Revan, who is a former Jedi turned Sith Lord. Revan lived some four thousand years before the formation of the Galactic Empire. He is also a playable character of the RPG Knights of the Old Republic.
You can see that the trailer is made using shots from a number of different sources like fan films, games etc. Excessive film footage is avoided because it would have taken the viewer out of the immersive experience. Along with the fan films and games, clips from The Mandalorian has also been used to indicate the turning point in Revan’s history during the Mandalorian Wars.
The footage of Reeves himself is taken from pseudo-historical fantasy action movie 47 Ronin. It has been edited to superimpose a lightsaber over the outcast Kai’s (Reeves’s character) katana and the voiceover repurposed to suggestively apply to the Jedi and Sith rather than warring factions of feudal Japanese clans.
Can Star Wars: The Old Republic Happen With Keanu Reeves?
As for whether the movie will ever happen or not, know that after the announcement of the Sequel Trilogy, the events of KOTOR and thus of Revan himself were relegated to non-canonical status along with the rest of the Expanded Universe. But the character has been made official again following the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Even the film’s accompanying Visual Dictionary tie-in names a number of the legions of Sith Troopers, one of whom is “The 3rd: Revan Legion.” So it has thereby re-canonized the character as an existing historical figure. So will it be possible to see Keanu Reeves in the role of Revan? That’s a question for the movie gods to answer. But in the meantime, Marvel is calling him to be in their movie…any movie.
