As the MCU continues to grow, storylines that went absolutely nowhere could become very important all over again. There are many stories and setups Marvel Cinematic Universe has created for over a decade that some have slid between the gaps failing to deliver what some fans hoped for at least so far.

Some of these stories are long forgotten but some could still emerge into new characters and tales for Marvel films and television shows to explore. These forgotten plot pieces may resurface and become crucial once more as the universe expands.

1. Atlantis Indications

Iron Man 2

Fans have been wondering when Namor might join the MCU since Iron Man 2 and the first sight at Nick Fury’s SHIELD map with its blinking point of interest in the middle of the ocean. Many people believe the underwater tremors in Avengers: Endgame was a clue that the Marvel Atlanteans were planning something.

Unfortunately, Marvel executives have previously stated that the rights to Namor and his storylines are a tricky problem, so these Easter eggs are unlikely to pay off anytime soon.

2. Hydra’s Hunt by Nick Fury

Nick Fury

Nick Fury warned Captain America that he was going after the rest of Hydra after the dissolution of SHIELD—and his feigned death. While Hydra reappears in Avengers: Age of Ultron in the shape of Baron Von Strucker and Doctor List, no other details about Fury’s search for Hydra have been revealed.

Even in the Agents of SHIELD universe, there are only a few mentions of him seeking troubled agents, such as Fitz and Simmons

3. Extremis’ Long-Term Consequences

Iron Man 3

The exploding super warriors from AIM were a key part of the combat in Iron Man 3, but we haven’t seen anything like it since. It did appear in Agents of SHIELD’s Centipede program, but as that isn’t now MCU canon, it’s difficult to know what happened to it. Similarly, the consequences of Pepper Potts’ exposure are uncertain.

While Tony Stark said he could “repair” it, no one ever explained how that happened or what a stable version of Extremis looked like after Tony’s full recovery from his injuries.

4. Lady Sif’s Appearance

Lady Sif

Lady Sif seemed to vanish from Asgard after Thor: The Dark World. She appeared on Agents of SHIELD a few times, however, she was significantly absent from Thor: Ragnarok. This tale could be resurrected with Thor: Love and Thunder in production and her return to the MCU in the works although with the focus on Jane Foster and her transformation into Thor

5. Did Ava “Ghost” Starr Fall Victim To Snap?

Thor

In the last scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott Lang is sent into the Quantum Realm to collect healing particles for Ava “Ghost” Starr. Unfortunately, Thanos’ Snap crushes the Pym-Van Dyne family to dust just as Scott is about to leave. The race to rescue them and the rest of the snapped victims was framed by Scott’s reappearance.

But if Ava received treatment in another way or simply faded away remains unanswered. She hasn’t been seen since, thus it’s uncertain if she was a victim of Thanos’ Snap indirectly.
