88 Year Old James Bond Star Judy Dench’s New Medical Scare Leaves Movie Community Stunned: “It’s difficult for me”

The British actor Judy Dench is back in the media spotlight with her medical condition. The James Bond actor has been suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) since 2012. She was forced to give up on her acting career due to her current medical condition. Judy Dench is popularly known as the M16 chief M in the super spy James Bond series. During an interview with a media outlet, the actor spoke about her medical condition and mentioned the difficulties she has while reading the lines of a script. She said-
“I mean I can’t see on a film set anymore. And I can’t see to read. So I can’t see much. But you know you just deal with it. Get on. It’s difficult for me if I have any length of a part. I haven’t yet found a way. Because I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory.”
She further added-
“It’s the most terrible shock to the system,” she said previously. “Ghastly. It’s terrible to be so dependent on people.”
Despite facing multiple challenges, Judy Dench’s acting career spans a period of six decades in Hollywood with multiple accolades, nominations, and awards.
Actor Judy Dench On Her Association With The James Bond Franchise
The Bond movies are synonymous with the character of M played by the veteran actor Judy Dench. She was introduced to the world of the Bond franchise with the 1995 released Goldeneye alongside Pierce Brosnan. During an interview with the media outlet Rolling Stone, the actor had spoken about her association with the billion-dollar franchise. She mentioned that it was her husband who had encouraged her to go ahead with the role in the super spy franchise. She mentioned-
“My husband said “you have got to do it, because I long to live with a Bond woman”!’
While talking about her co-stars she was asked whom did she prefer Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan, Judy Dench answered in a very diplomatic way and said-
‘They are totally different people – completely different’.
The actor in her late 80s is a perfect example of the saying- Age is just a number. What Judy Dench has achieved with an active acting career spanning over 60 years, is next to impossible for any other actor to achieve.
