What Is ONE PIECE Novel ZORO About?

ONE PIECE Novel ZORO is essentially a compilation of previous One Piece Magazine features, focusing on Zoro‘s past before he joined the Straw Hat Pirates, into a single book. However, the novel also does offer an additional newly written episode, so fans do have a good reason to grab it.

The story starts from the moment Zoro leaves Shimotsuki Village, a few years after Kuina’s death, to search for stronger opponents. He had his ulterior goal, pursuing clues related to Mihawk. Then his journey takes him to Nazawaka City; stuff happens there as well, and the story goes on to the next chapter.

The novel reorganizes the previously released One Piece Magazine Special features, which were originally serialized across Volumes 18-20. It turns Sasakaze (previously the prologue) into Chapter 1, merges the two Oizuru parts into a single Chapter 2 (originally Chapters 1 and 2), and adds a brand-new Chapter 3 titled Spirit of the Sword. This was more than enough to pull the Zoro fans in.
