The Writer’s Guild of America has been on an indefinite strike and as a result, the entertainment industry has come to a halt. It has been reported that the popularity of streaming websiteshurtn the pockets of the creative people in the industry. Recently, Jimmy Fallon was blasted by one of the staff members of the talk show for not attending a meeting regarding the pay cut.

Jimmy Fallon Criticized By The Staff Writers

Amidst the worst times in Hollywood, when the entire entertainment sector is suffering due to the strike called by the writers, Jimmy Fallon made headlines for a negative reason. The 48-year-old TV presenter is one of the most liked media personalities. Recently, a staff member commented about the That’s My Jam host on social media and pointed out his irresponsible behavior towards his staff members as he was not present at the meeting organized by NBC to address the pay cut due to the writer’s strike.

Sarah Kobos is a senior photo research coordinator for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She tweeted that the notable TV presenter Jimmy Fallon did not even speak about the writer’s strike. She wrote,

“He wasn’t even at the meeting this morning to tell us we won’t get paid after this week. @jimmyfallon please support your staff. Had fun bowling with ya last week, but a fun party won’t pay my rent.”

Staff Member Sarah Kobos also added,

“At a meeting, Jimmy wasn’t even at, we are told NBC decided to stop paying us after this week and end our health insurance after this month if the strike is ongoing. They won’t even tell us if we will technically be furloughed. Just active employees who aren’t paid.”

According to Yahoo, Jimmy Fallon addressed the writer’s strike and even went on to say that he stands in favor of the strike during the Met Gala. He said,

“I wouldn’t have a show if it wasn’t for my writers, I support them all the way.”

The 48-year-old media personality has been vocal about his views and opinions in the past also. He is even looking forward to paying the staff members from his paycheck.

Jimmy Fallon Pays Writers From His Own Pocket

With the indefinite strike of the Writer’s Guild of America going on, TV shows have taken a backseat. They are being broadcasted on repeat mode, forcing the audience to switch to different streaming channels. In order to maintain the continuity of the late-night talk shows, NBC has come up with a proposition. According to it, the first two week’s salary would be given by NBC and the third week’s remuneration would be given from the pockets of the show hosts. Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers would be participating in the given proposition to run their late-night talk show.

During an episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, the show host went on to express his views on the writer’s strike. Seth Meyers went on to say,

“Look, no one is entitled to a job in show business. But for those people who have a job in show business, they are entitled to fair compensation. They are entitled to make a living. I think it’s a very reasonable demand that is being set out by the guild, and I support those demands. But I also believe that everybody at the table right now, be it from the writer side or the studio side, knows that the future of this business is dependent on storytellers.”

This is not happening for the first time, as fifteen years back Hollywood was forced to shut down. Writers and staff members went on strike in 2007. Back then Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman had decided to run their shows by shelling out the salaries of the writers from their own pockets. During an interview with the media outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the host of The Jimmy Kimmel Show revealed how his savings were drained due to the writer’s strike. He said,

“The strike basically wiped out all my savings.”

As uncertainty looms over the entertainment industry, it is very difficult to predict the pros and cons of the current strike by entertainment experts.
