Overall, the Fantastic Beasts trilogy received positive response from the audience and critics. But some critics went on to say that the Fantastic Beasts trilogy were quite inferior to the Harry Potter series but the actors do not feel the same way. Jude Law mentioned that he always enjoyed playing his character on-screen and shared one piece of information given by author JK Rowling as he was preparing for the movie.

Jude Law reveals the reason why he liked playing Dumbledore on Fantastic Beasts

In a cover story interview with Variety, actor Jude Law, who played the younger Albus Dumbledore, shared that the author J.K. Rowling had given him a lot of notes to prepare for the role. One such note the actor revealed was that Dumbledore saw himself as a monster. He said,

And that’s why he liked Newt because Newt took care of monsters.

Eddie Redmayne played the character of Newt Scamander in the movies, where Dumbledore struggled with his identity as a gay man falling in love with a Dark Wizard, Gellert Grindelwald. Law goes on to talk about his character’s fight with Grindelwald.

Because of Dumbledore’s past, I think he always felt guilty that he had been misled because he was in love. It followed him. He found himself to be unlovable because he trusted his heart.

Jude Law, in his conversation, also shared his experience of playing the character on-screen. He described that to play Dumbledore and to feel a sense of his extraordinary powers, he found a nice place in himself. The actor added he liked his character’s heart and always enjoyed stepping in his shoes.

The actor also mentioned that it’s very likely that no more Fantastic Beasts would be made as the makers are focused on doing Harry Potter as a TV show. However, fans would have loved for the movies to continue and for the makers to explore Dumbledore’s past and struggles. They would have wanted to see his connection with Newt Scamander.

Jude Law talks about playing Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel

The actor played Yon-Rogg, leader of the Starforce in 2019’s Captain Marvel, alongside Brie Larson. In his interview, he shared that according to him, the studios couldn’t get more of Yon-Rogg because there wasn’t anything more that they could get out of that character. He noted,

That, for me, was the height of Marvel.

Captain Marvel went on to receive mixed reviews despite being a successful blockbuster movie, and about that, the actor noted that it was a really good experience for him.

Law mentioned that he wishes he could have been allowed to have a bit more fun with the part as he wanted him to be more arch.

I wanted to lean into the humor more. Also, those suits are hard to move in because they are thick rubber. You got to stunt camp for a couple of months, where you’re doing all these fight rehearsals and learning to do all this stuff.

The Closer actor continued that once the suit is on, the actors instantly realize that they cannot touch the toes, but they eventually figure their way out. During the conversation, the actor also touched upon how he struggled with paparazzi, especially after he split from Sienna Miller. He mentions that he has learned to live in a certain way that keeps the paparazzi at bay.
