‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Finds Its Next Dragon Dreamer in Henry Ashton as Another Iconic Targaryen Prince Looks to Make His Live-Action Debut

After the incredibly moving House of the Dragon season 2 finale, HBO is gearing up to delight the fans of the fantastical world with yet another series based on the epic works of George R.R. Martin.
Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the show is currently under production as the story and the characters eventually get finalized. We received news of Dunk and Egg being cast and on shoot recently. As more time passes, the cast of the show will officially materialize and give us a clearer picture of what the fans can expect from the show.
Henry Ashton cast as Daeron Targaryen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
In terms of dreamer Targaryens, we have been introduced to Daenys the Dreamer from Game of Thrones when Daenerys learns why their family moved from Valyria to Westeros. Thanks to Daenys, the Targaryens were saved from the fiery disaster of Valyria and managed to be the only surviving dragonriders in the world. In House of the Dragon, we get to see Halaena Targaryen, who is also a dreamer, and has the ability to foretell the future.
However, in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, we will be introduced to yet another Targaryen who has prophetic dreams. Actor Henry Ashton will play Daeron Targaryen, who is the son of King Maekar I Targaryen and his wife Dyanna Dayne. Despite being a Knight, Daeron had a troublesome reputation as a drunk and addict. Moreover, he disliked riding horses and fighting with swords, further maligning his image in front of the masses.
Daeron liked to spend his time at various inns across Westeros and drink his life away. It is at an inn that he meets Duncan the Tall and recalls that he had a dream about him. Furthermore, this marks the first interaction between Dunk and Egg. The latter is actually Aegon, Daeron’s younger brother, whose head is shaved to conceal his identity.
This makes the fans believe that Daeron would play a central role in Dunk and Egg’s tale. Ashton’s acting prowess will truly be tested in this complex role as he plays a drunken man who cannot be trusted.
Who is Henry Ashton?
Most recently, people must have seen Ashton as Max Hastings in BBC’s crime drama A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. He shines in the twisted character of Hastings who likes to keep his cards close to his chest. With multiple secrets and a hateful personality, Ashton’s portrayal of Hastings was appreciated by all.
The other project he has been a part of is My Lady Jane which was released on Prime Video this year. He plays the role of Lord Stan Dudley, the brother of the lead character Guildford Dudley. In this show, Ashton’s character is also arrogant, selfish, and a bit egotistical. It seems that Ashton has a knack for portraying characters that err on the side of evil and negativity. Fans can only hope that he is up for the role of Daeron Targaryen.
