According To Marvel Head, The Eternals Film Is A Love Letter To Creator Jack Kirby
What Kevin Feige Has To Say About The Movie The Eternals:
According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Eternals is a love letter to the original comic’s creator, Jack Kirby. Eternals had its global premiere in Los Angeles recently, with many applauding the picture for its stunning graphics, epic size, and emotional depth. The film is about an immortal alien species known as the Eternals, who reunite after thousands of years in hiding on Earth to combat an evil entity known as the Deviants. The film is based on Jack Kirby’s and Stan Lee’s The Eternals comic book, which was initially published in 1976.
Works Of Jack Kirby:
Kirby is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in comic book history, with works such as The Fantastic Four, Thor, Black Panther, and Silver Surfer, among others. Kirby died in 1996, but the Eternals comic book series has persisted and is now in its fifth edition. Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Barry Keoghan, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Don Lee, Lia McHugh, and Bryan Tyree Henry feature in the MCU’s Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao.
Feige’s Interview With The Hollywood Reporter:
In an interview with THR, Feige addresses the film’s dedication to Kirby and the gratitude owed to the famous comic creator. Feige also expresses regret that Kirby did not live to see how successful and influential his stories would become as part of the MCU. Feige makes it clear that the Eternals, like much of the MCU as a whole, began with one man’s ideas and their implementation in comic book form. Read the rest of Feige’s statement below:
“The whole movie is a love letter to what one man was able to do with a pencil, sitting at a little desk on the East Coast. The other day I was like, ‘How cool that I live in the timeline where William Shatner went to space in real life?’ One of the bummers, you could argue there are many, of the current timeline that we live in, is that Jack Kirby passed before he got to see any of this.”
Early feedbacks From The Movie:
Early reactions indicate that Eternals is visually unique from many previous Marvel films, and that Zhao’s gentle touch elevates the film above and beyond what is often anticipated of superhero fiction. These first comments support the concept that Eternals is a love letter to Kirby and that a single guy with a pencil and an idea has the ability to alter the world. MCU films are sometimes chastised for feeling too similar to one another, but Feige’s comments and the early reviews hint that Eternals may have a more individual and original vision than past instalments.
What Feige Stated About Jack Kirby:
It’s a sad, as Feige says, that Kirby never got to experience the real power of his inventions as Stan Lee did. Had he still been alive, it’s probable that viewers would have been treated to Jack Kirby appearances in MCU films, just as they did with Lee. Like the MCU enters its fourth phase, it would be fantastic to see the studio genuinely let various directors to put their imprint on films in order to produce new, more original superhero flicks, as Zhao appears to have done with Eternals. While public audiences have yet to see the film, it is hoped that it will wind up seeming like a love letter to a really significant and game-changing figure when it is released on November 5th later this year.
