According To The Director, Red Notice 2 & 3 Are Both Possible & Will Most Likely Be Shot Back-to-Back

Parts 2 and 3 of Red Notice, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, are a definite possibility and will most likely be shot back-to-back. The picture, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, was written and directed by Thurber. Red Notice just launched on Netflix, garnering the distinction of the streamer’s highest opening day, with a cumulative watching time of 148 million hours to date. Thurber’s film career began with the successful comedy Dodgeball, starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. He’d go on to helm another comedic blockbuster, We’re The Millers, starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston, before joining The Rock’s train with Central Intelligence, which also starred Kevin Hart. He followed that up with Dwayne Johnson’s Die-Hard-style Skyscraper and now, Red Notice, a Netflix blockbuster. He’ll next be seen in Tom Clancy’s thriller The Division, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain.
Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Interview With The Hollywood Reporter:
When asked about sequel possibilities by THR, Thurber seems most bullish about a sequel(s) to Red Notice over all others. The director believes it’s a “real possibility,” and when asked about the notion that two and three will shoot back-to-back, Thurber stated it was the “only responsible thing” to do. Read the whole of his quote below:
“If we were to do a sequel, the only thing that would be responsible would be to make two and three back-to-back. It’s a huge production, and if you can only do it once, it’ll be best for everyone. This includes my mental wellbeing. “
Because all three Red Notice performers have a full plate of tasks, it may take some time to get more Red Notice behind the cameras:
Because all three Red Notice stars have a full plate of tasks, it may take some time to get more Red Notice behind the camera. Johnson’s next film, Black Adam, will be released next year, and he is also set to feature in Red One for Amazon and filmmaker Jake Kasdan. Reynolds recently completed The Adam Project and Spirited and is currently taking a break from acting. Gadot is currently filming the spy thriller Heart of Stone, as well as two Patty Jenkins movies, Cleopatra and Wonder Woman 3. She’s also poised to portray the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. While critics have given “Red Notice” mixed reviews, the film’s star power appears to have propelled it to the top of Netflix’s ratings. That may be enough to justify a sequel (or two), and it wouldn’t be the first Netflix original picture to warrant a sequel. Several movies, such as Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction and Charlize Theron’s The Old Guard, are receiving sequels on Netflix, so it’s not out of the question that Red Notice may follow suit. For the reviewers (and fans) who were dissatisfied, hopefully any sequels will correct some of the mistakes and improve on the faults of the first film.
