Even the biggest superhero movies can sometimes leave people disappointed. Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to the 2017 smash hit Wonder Woman, is no exception. While Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Princess Diana of Themyscira was widely praised, there’s one scene that has become a bit of a sticking point for some fans.

In that scene, Diana confronts Max Lord, the movie’s villain played by Pedro Pascal. She’s set on stopping him from using the artifact’s incredible power. The movie is about Wonder Woman’s adventure during the Cold War, where she faces off against her foes Maxwell (a powerful businessman with a hidden agenda) and Cheetah (a fierce villainess).

During the scene in Wonder Woman 1984, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) jumps onto the car of Max Lord (Pedro Pascal), who is driving recklessly through the streets. With her super strength, she grips the car tightly, holding on as it races through the streets. She shouts:

Max Lord, you’re putting yourself and everyone else in danger. I need you to give me the Stone.

However, Gadot’s delivery of the line didn’t quite resonate with some viewers, who felt it lacked the strong presence expected of Wonder Woman. Social media was full of critiques, questioning how such a famous actress could falter. Check out some fan reactions:

While one scene made people talking, Israeli star’s performance got mostly good reviews from critics (via Rotten Tomatoes). But Wonder Woman 1984 movie didn’t meet expectations as a whole. DCU is undergoing a major reboot. This means new actors will be playing Superman and Batman, and the Wonder Woman 3 movie with Gal Gadot won’t be happening anymore. Although the big screen Wonder Woman won’t be Gadot anymore, the franchise isn’t dead. The Paradise Lost series and an upcoming movie (likely) show DC’s commitment to the character.

Paradise Lost is an HBO Max series set on Wonder Woman’s home island, Themyscira. This series goes back in time to show fans what life was like for the Amazons before Wonder Woman showed up. Although there isn’t much info yet about the next Wonder Woman film. But fans can look forward to seeing Wonder Woman make a comeback in a whole new way soon.
