Despite having been in the industry for decades and giving some of the most memorable performances, Hugh Jackman has yet to win his first Oscar. He has a Guinness World Record for playing the clawed X-Man for 17 years, but not an Oscar.

Not just Wolverine, Jackman also didn’t get the deserving appreciation for his role as Keller Dover in Denis Villeneue’s 2013 crime movie, Prisoners. Many fans over the web share similar empathy for Jackman. In fact, an industry insider has also claimed that the actor deserved recognition for his performance in Logan.

This shows fans at least wanted the panel to recognize and acknowledge Jackman’s brilliance regardless of whether or not he wins. However, tables might turn as according to Variety, the actor has been pitched for Best Supporting Actor in the upcoming Academy Award ceremony for Deadpool & Wolverine. The decision has fans rooting for him.

In fact, Jackman’s name is being submitted for Best Supporting Actor across all key awards shows, including the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics Choice. So, fans can stay assured that he might end up taking at least one of these major awards.

After becoming a blockbuster hit, Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine is now aiming to make it big in terms of accolades. The 2024 action-comedy movie almost has a guaranteed spot in the Golden Globes’ recently-introduced Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

The category was introduced the previous year to celebrate the year’s most critically acclaimed and highest-grossing films. Barbie won the category last year and Deadpool & Wolverine is a fine contender this year. After all, the movie has already met the requirement of this prize by surpassing the mark of $150 million.

Apart from this, the movie might also aim to achieve nominations in technical categories such as production design, sound, and visual effects at the Oscars. There’s no doubt that Deadpool & Wolverine is slowly setting an example for upcoming superhero movies.
