The Goonies came out in 1985, and actor Ke Huy Quan became well-known for his roles as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984 and 1985. After making a successful comeback to the screen in 2021 with Finding ‘Ohana, the actor went on to star in the biggest and most lucrative film of 2022, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Ke Huy Quan desires to be a part of the Star Wars franchise

In an interview with Collider’s Therese Lacson, actor Ke Huy Quan who recently starred in Marvel Studios’ Loki alongside Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson shared that he was thrilled to be a part of MCU as he has been a fan of the franchise for a long time.

The actor also mentioned that he found an opportunity to befriend Kathleen Kennedy, who is the head at the Lucasfilm now, which has another major franchise under the Disney umbrella, Star Wars. He said,

“I love the MCU. You know, I was able to connect with my Indiana Jones family during the award season. And, as you know, Kathleen Kennedy was the producer. And she’s the head of Lucasfilm now. I did go up to her and I said, ‘Kathy, I would love to join the Star Wars family.’ That’s another wish list of mine. But honestly, I’ve been very lucky. I’ve been very lucky.”

Huy Quan mentioned that when he saw a family of four dressed up as his characters from the movies it warmed his heart, adding that he felt happy that his characters on-screen were able to resonate with the audience. He added,

“I haven’t been at this for a long time, even though I’ve been in the business for a long time. But I feel like this time around, I’m quite new to this. So I want to be able to play a lot of different characters. And hopefully, you know, yeah.”

Ke Huy Quan has impressed the audience with his iconic characters over the years and they would love to see him play different characters on-screen as well.

Ke Huy Quan details the moment he asked Kathleen Kennedy to cast him in Star Wars 

The celebrated actor notes that he is not shy to make an extra effort to ask for a role he deeply desires and went into detail the moment he came up to ask Kennedy for a Star Wars movie. He said to Collider

“I was shameless when I saw Kathy! I went up to give her a big hug. And I said, “Kathy, Kathy, please put me in the Star Wars universe!” And what’s so great about it, if you think about it, it’s all under the Disney family, you know? So, I was lucky to be Short Round, which is also Disney. And, now MCU, and, you know, I want to stay in the family. It’s great.”

Fans are now excited about seeing the actor in Star Wars movies hopefully, in the future, since the casting announcement for the upcoming movie is expected to happen in the coming months and fans have their fingers crossed for the actor to be a part of it.
