After Kelly Rowland Row, Viral Video Shows Same Cannes Security Guard Tackling a Famous South Korean Actress but Colleagues Jump to Her Defense
Actress-singer and television personality Kelly Rowland rose to fame as a member of the famous and best-selling girl group at the time; Destiny’s Child. After the group disbanded, Rowland decided to focus on solo projects and worked on her solo albums while also trying her hands on hosting the first season of The Fashion Show. She served as a judge on The X Factor UK S8, and more.
The actress has served as the coach on The Voice Australia from 2017 to 2020, and over the years, Rowland has sold over 40 million records. She is one of the most talented artists in the industry and recently appeared at the 77th Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Marcello Mio. The artist appeared in a gorgeous red outfit, looking ravishing, but it was not her look that stole the spotlight.
After Kelly Rowland, a French security guard mistreats YoonA and Massiel Taveras
Actress-singer Kelly Rowland was pictured striking a pose with a smile and waving to the media at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in her flowy red dress with a sweetheart neckline, that accentuated her gorgeous diamond necklace. As the actress made her way to the stairs, French female security guard held her arm to turn her away from the crowd into the venue.
It is not clear what went down between the French security guard and former Destiny’s Child singer, but it appeared that it did not sit well with the singer. Rowland was seen showing her having a heated discussion with her. The actress later explained what transpired during an interview with the Associated Press (via People).
The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it. And there were other women who attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded, pushed off, or told to get off. I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to stand hers, but I stood my ground.
After the viral heated discussion with Rowland, the French security guard was back in the news, and this time South Korean idol YoonA and Dominican actress Massiel Taveras faced the same mistreatment. The reports suggest that the security guard allegedly singled out YoonA as she turned around to wave at the media. YoonA arrived a few days before Rowland, but the video of her allegedly being pushed and singled out by the security guard was recently shared online. It was noted that other actors at the time continued to pose for the camera.
Dominican actress, Massiel Taveras, appeared on the red carpet in a gorgeous white dress with an image of Jesus Christ painted on her train. As she was making her way upstairs, she stopped to fix her train so that the media could capture it, but the same security guard blocked and hurried her up the stairs.
In a video that has been brought to light, the actress appears upset about not being able to pose properly. As the the actress and the security guard reached the top of the stairs, the actress once again turned around to wave. This time the security made physical contact to turn her around. This led to Taveras pushing the security guard away from her and walking away.
French security guard is accused of mistreatment, a colleague comes in defense
After the videos of the three actresses being mistreated by the French security guard went viral, netizens took no time to state that she was the only citizen to harass three celebrities in a week.
However according to Deadline, a colleague of the French security guard comes in defense of her, stating,
She was only doing her job. She was an usher working under a lot of pressure to keep people on the carpet moving to stop crowds from building up. There was no pushing or shoving. Security and safety are the priorities, along with keeping to strict timetables set according to contracts—even celebrities have to stick to the rules.
The colleague concluded by stating that a lot of ushers are involved and they always act professionally and with politeness, and in this case, she was doing her job. On addressing the accusation of being racist, the colleague added that it is just ridiculous, as visitors and indeed staff at the Cannes come from all kinds of backgrounds, and none of them are discriminated against.
YoonA’s management and Massiel Taveras have not yet commented on the situation.
