With his role in the 1976 sports drama film Rocky, Sylvester Stallone instantly catapulted himself into the stardom that he would enjoy over the next five decades. Stallone has delivered multiple iconic movies in cinema history and has sharpened his acting skills by taking up projects from different genres.
From action to animation, the legendary actor has aced them all. Due to his rich experience in the industry, the actor has seen cinema evolve over the years. According to Stallone, the modern-day superhero or action movies are not a match to the ones made during his prime years.
Sylvester Stallone Opens Up About Marvel Superhero Films Over The Years
Besides being the tough guy in record-breaking films, Sylvester Stallone has also starred in a few iconic action movies during his prime years. Based on his experience over the years, Stallone seems unimpressed with modern-day superhero films. He feels that during his times, such films were a bit more grounded, focusing on character work as much as spectacle. The actor feels the first Rambo film included everything that he liked about action films, and what he disliked about Marvel.
Despite certain issues with modern superhero films, he appeared in one of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies and also offered his voice for King Shark in The Suicide Squad. In 2019, Stallone starred in his own superhero film, The Samaritan an entirely original idea having no ties to Marvel, DC, or any other comic book property. He shared that he liked the film more than big-budget movies because it was not set in some super fantastic universe and the kind of simplicity attached to it.

Sylvester Stallone’s career spans back to 1976 and across more than 50 films that have collectively grossed about $3 billion at the box office. Talking about his age, Stallone admitted that he feels immature and the older he gets, the more he tries to embrace his inner kid. He also talked about his films and said that his most underrated film is Get Carter, which was a huge disappointment for the actor.
Stallone also made a shocking revelation stating he turned down an offer of $34 million in the 1980s for Rambo IV, which would in present times translate to roughly $85 million. He also expressed his love for comfort wears like a black t-shirt, a dress that he is seen wearing for most of his interviews. The actor also shared about his friendship with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.
