After Retiring From MCU, Zoe Saldaña Makes Concerning Statement About Her Future in $5.2 Billion Franchise
Zoe Saldaña is one Hollywood star who has been able to become a part of two highly successful film franchises. One in James Cameron-directed Avatar and the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy. However, Saldana has already said goodbye to MCU this year and would not be returning as her character Gamora in any of the future films.
The retirement from Marvel Studio was disappointing news for fans, however, the actress is still signed up for three more films in Disney’s Avatar franchise. The film came out with the sequel this year and as it turns out three more sequels are decided to be out gradually. Talking about it Saldaña recently expressed her feeling about the delay in the release date of each movie and she does not sound too happy with it.
Zoe Saldaña Is Not Happy With the Avatar Sequel Delays
James Cameron-directed Avatar is undoubtedly one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood so far. And the film is already slated to have three upcoming films in the coming years following the recent sequel Avatar: The Way of Water.
However, the release dates of each of the three sequels have been delayed stretching up to the release of the last one in 2031.
One thing that seems to be bothersome about this delay is how long the actors as well as the director will have to wait for the whole franchise to get complete. Recently, actress Zoe Saldaña who plays the role of Neytiri in the sci-fi film took to her Instagram to address this information by writing,
“I’m gonna be 53 when the last Avatar comes out. I was 27 when I shot the very first Avatar.”
At the same time, it is not as burdensome anymore as the actress has exited another big franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy after the third installment this year.
A Brief Look At Zoe Saldana and Her MCU History
Since 2014, Zoe Saldaña has been a part of the Marvel studio family portraying the role of Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. And she has appeared in the following two sequels with the recent one being released this year.
Director James Gunn teased the exit by mentioning that the third installment was going to be the endpoint of several characters in the film which included Saldaña’s Gamora and Dave Bautista’s Drax as well. Following that the Avatar star confirmed her departure from MCU officially by stating,
“I don’t think this is the end for the Guardians. It is the end for me, for Gamora.”
Despite her retirement, Guardians of the Galaxy fans can be assured that there is more in store for the franchise in the future.
