Age Difference Between Rachel McAdams and $25M Rich Mean Girls Co-star in Insane
In the classic 2004 film Mean Girls, which also starred Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and other stars, actresses Rachel McAdams and Amy Poehler made appearances. Wannabes directed the American teen comedy, which was written by Mark Waters and directed by Tina Fey. The screenplay was based on Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 novel Queen Bees and Wannabes.
The film received high marks from both reviewers and viewers, earning it the title of a cult classic for future generations. The film’s co-star, Tina Fey, received recognition for her writing, and Lohan and McAdams received accolades for playing characters who were almost flawless. A startling new information concerning Rachel McAdams and Amy Poehler, who portrayed mother and daughter in the film, has recently come to light.

Rachel McAdams played the iconic role of high school socialite Regina George and Amy Poehler played the role of her wealthy ‘cool mom’ June in the movie. Fans have, ever since the movie’s release in 2004, loved the characters, including some of the iconic dialogues said by them which made their way into the everyday language of the public.
Fans of the movie were recently surprised to learn the age difference between Rachel McAdams, who was 25 years old at the time of the movie’s release, and Amy Poehler, who was 32 years old at the time. According to Tyla, the actresses who played mother-daughter in the movie were actually just seven years in age difference from each other.
A Twitter user posted on their social media after learning the age difference between the two actresses; “Hold up, Amy Poehler, who plays Rachel McAdams’ mom in ‘Mean Girls,’ is only 7 years older than her in real life???? Cinema is a lie.” Another user wrote, “Amy was 32 when the movie was filmed. That’s not even really old enough to be the mother of a 17-year-old in real life unless she has a baby at 15. Wack.”
Adding more, Rachel McAdams was only seven years older than Lindsay Lohan, who was 17 years old at the time of the movie’s release and was highly praised for her acting.

Rachel McAdams is open to reprising Regina George on-screen
During an interview with Bustle in April 2023, the actress was asked if she would reprise her mean girl character of Regina George on-screen, to which she noted that she into not see how the original cast could be incorporated into the new upcoming movie. She said,
“I don’t see a way to shoehorn us in. If Tina can figure it out, I’m there, for sure.”
Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay for the original Mean Girls, is also behind the new movie. Actress Reneé Rapp is going to star as McAdams’s Regina George and Angourie Rice is going to portray Lindsay Lohan’s Cady character in the new movie.
But during a question and answer round, according to Tyla, a fan asked McAdams if she would like to play Regina George once again on-screen, to which she said,
“I always want to go back and do all of them again. You really fall in love with them. I mean, it would be fun to play Regina George later in life and see where life took her after Mean Girls.”
It was reported back in 2016 that the cast had an opportunity to do a photo shoot a couple of years ago and it wasn’t enough.

In her interview with ET, McAdams was asked about how she feels about Rapp playing her iconic character on-screen;
“I don’t think she can do any wrong. She is amazing. She’s already got me beat with that voice, so I’m just excited to see her incarnation. It’s such a great character. It’s so much fun to play, so I hope she has a great time with it. And I can’t wait to see it.”
Tina Fey, who is going to reprise her role in the upcoming movie, shared via Variety, “I’m very excited to bring ‘Mean Girls’ back to the big screen. It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent sixteen years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”
Mean Girls: The Musical will be released in theatres in January 2024.
