Marvel has been in the business for a long time. The franchise has produced various movies and TV shows over the years. Agents of SHIELD is the longest-running television program in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney CEO Bob Iger commented on Marvel’s television history. Iger, while addressing the Phase 4 criticism, stated that Marvel had not been in the TV business at any significant level until lately. While the Marvel Studios TV productions created especially for the MCU are undoubtedly novel, the Marvel TV history stretches back before the Disney+ series.

Disappointed by the comment, Agents of SHIELD actor Clark Gregg replied bluntly to Iger for neglecting  Agents of SHIELD and the other pre-Disney+ Marvel shows when discussing Marvel’s TV history. He tweeted briefly and directly.

Gregg quoting the comment of the CEO tweeted nothing but a “Bro….”

The reply was sufficient for him to express his displeasure with the executive. Gregg resumed his role as Phill Coulson in Agents of SHIELD after playing the character in multiple MCU Phase 1 films.

WandaVision was the first Disney+ series produced by Marvel Studios. Before that, TV shows were produced through Marvel Television, a division of Marvel Entertainment. Therefore, Marvel Studios and Marvel Television were independent entities run by different executives.

Before Avengers Endgame, MCU followed this approach to create shows like Daredevil, Defenders, Agents of SHIELD, and Inhumans.
