All Star Wars Actors Are Strictly Barred From Overusing One Word in Movies and Shows No Matter the Situation and It Totally Makes Sense
Created by Leslye Headland for Disney+, The Acolyte, also known as Star Wars: The Acolyte, is, as its name suggests, a Star Wars series set at the end of the High Republic era. The series depicts the events set before the events of the main Star Wars movies and follows a former Padawan reuniting with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, discovering forces they had never anticipated.
Lucasfilm confirmed the series’ development on Star Wars Day, i.e., May 4, 2020. The showrunner had mentioned that she wanted to explore the Star Wars franchise from the perspective of the villains and felt that the High Republic era would be the best point in the timeline. The Acolyte is one of the highly anticipated series and will premiere on June 4, 2024, with two episodes. The stars of the show recently shared during an interview about one word that they are not allowed to say.
Star Wars: The Acolyte stars reveal the one word that’s barred from over-using
Ahead of the release of the highly anticipated Star Wars series The Acolyte, actors Amandla Stenberg, who plays Osha and Mae, and Manny Jacinto, who plays Qimir, spoke to The Movie Podcast, where they were asked about any fact that they had learned over the period as they are now a part of Star Wars franchise. They revealed the one word that the cast members are not allowed to over-use. Jacinto said,
The use of the word Force is actually very much like a safeguard. I think when we were kind of collaborating on scenes and rehearsing, I was like, Can we use the word like force something here? and they were like, ‘No, we can’t do that. It’s very something like protected.’
In the same interview, Stenberg also revealed that in the prequels, the lightsabers’ light comes from CGI, while in the sequels, the makers used practical lightsabers, which, according to her, differentiates the kind of fighting style. The actress added that for The Acolyte, they used practical lightsabers, adding that there is an authentic light that comes out of them.
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the creator noted that a new lightsaber was created for The Acolyte. She further explained;
There was a lightsaber that I’d wanted to work in a particular way. When I brought it to the prop department, they told me, ‘You can’t do that; that’s not something that will work’ and I said, ‘Please, if you guys can just indulge me, it’s not something I’m ready to give up,’ and these incredible craftsmen were able to make my dream come true.
Stenberg also shared that there was some serious finessing and craftsmanship done to create a saber that is lightweight but has a real LED panel.
Dafne Keen says Lee Jung-jae was like a master she looked up to
Actress Dafne Keen, who plays Jecki Lon in the series and is Jedi Master Sol’s current young Padawan, shared in an interview with ETimes (via MSN) about her experience working with some of the biggest names in the industry. She also played the character of Laura in Hugh Jackman‘s Logan. Talking to the publication, she said,
First of all, I feel fortunate to have worked with such wonderful people, because there are some horrible people out there. I have been very lucky that the adult figures I got to work with have been so incredible. Hugh Jackman was such a gentle scene partner. He was truly like a fake dad when we were filming Logan, which was really, really lovely.
Talking about Lee Jung-jae, who plays the Jedi Master Sol in the series, Keen noted that he was like a master. She added that she truly felt like they had that relationship on the set where he was someone who she respected and looked up to.
The young actress shared with the publication that she feels honored as a young person to get to be around such talented veterans from the industry. Keen concluded by saying that she hopes someday to be in the position where they are. She enjoyed soaking up all the wisdom and knowledge they had to share with her.
The Acolyte premieres on June 4, 2024, with two episodes on Disney+.
