Amazon and Google main competitors: says Xbox

For long, it was thought that the biggest rivals for Xbox and PlayStation had been Nintendo because of unending innovations in science and tech. However, it turns out that they may no longer be in the competition. Rather, two other tech giants have come into view.

New gaming giants

According to Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox brand, Amazon and Google pose bigger competition to Xbox because of their increasing innovations in gaming. Both the companies are expected to continue that trend.

What did Xbox boss say?

“When you talk about Nintendo and Sony, we have a ton of respect for them, but we see Amazon and Google as the main competitors going forward,” Spencer said. “That’s not to disrespect Nintendo and Sony, but the traditional gaming companies are somewhat out of position. I guess they could try to re-create Azure, but we’ve invested tens of billions of dollars in cloud over the years.”

“I don’t want to be in a fight over format wars with those guys while Amazon and Google are focusing on how to get gaming to 7 billion people around the world,” Spencer adds. “Ultimately, that’s the goal.”

The competition is tough

Spencer has made it clear that Amazon and Google are much ahead of Sony and Nintendo anyway.

With Google Stadia being introduced by Google last year, Amazon did not stay far behind. Amazon is already set to enter the gaming world with its new game projects like the New World.
