Andrew Garfield reveals his condition for playing Spider-Man again

Actor Andrew Garfield recently appeared in We Live in Time alongside actress Florence Pugh. During an interview with People, he was asked if he’d be interested in reprising his role as Spider-Man in the future. The actor shared,

I think what it would take is a great idea, a great concept. Something that is surprising and odd and fun and joyful. It has to be worthwhile. I think we had such a great time on the last one that you just want to go, ‘Okay, leave it. It was great. It worked. It was a risk, and it really, really worked’.

One thing that Spider-Man: No Way Home corrected not only for Garfield but the audience too was saving MJ. The actor has expressed how proud he feels to be a part of a movie that corrected something he wishes his movie would have done. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield’s Spider-Man watched his beloved Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone fall to her death.

He regrets not being able to save her, but in No Way Home, when a similar situation arrives with MJ played by Zendaya, Garfield’s Spider-Man saves her from a similar fate. This not only saved the actor from years of torment of not being able to save his love but also for fans.

Garfield expressed that he was so happy that No Way Home dared to do it, adding that it was such a great idea. He further added,

I would never have had that foresight. So I’m really just proud and happy that I get to be a part of that. But if there’s something that can be concocted and thought up that feels additive to the canon of that character, then for sure.

The actor had expressed a similar opinion during an interview with Esquire and noted that he’d 100% return if it was the right thing with a great concept or something that’s never done before.

He mentioned that he loves the character, and he loves the fact that it brings joy to people. Garfield would love to reprise his character as Spider-Man also because he likes to be a part of the joy that his character brings.

Andrew Garfield recalls his late mother and speaks about grief after death

The actor has been promoting his movie, in which he stars alongside Pugh, and in a recent video with Elmo for the Sesame Workshop, Andrew Garfield recalled his late mother and how he has been navigating through her absence. In the video shared, Elmo asks Garfield how he is doing, to which the actor replies,

I’m just thinking about my mom today. She passed away not too long ago, and you know, I just miss her a lot. It is actually kind of okay to miss somebody. You know, that sadness is kind of a gift. Kind of a lovely thing to feel in a way, because it means that you love somebody when you miss them. And when I miss someone, when I miss my mom, I remember all the cuddles I used to get from her. All the hugs I used to get from her. It makes me feel closer to her when I miss her.

He further added that he’s happy that he’s got happy memories with her so that he can cherish them with the joy she brought him.

The actor noted his mother brought immense joy to his brother, dad, and everyone she knew. So when he misses her, he only remembers how happy she made him and everyone around her. He lastly mentioned that he can miss her and at the same time celebrate her.
