The past few years have not been kind to DC, as every project they touched turned into turmoil. As a result, DCEU is ending soon but it isn’t the only DC cinematic universe nearing its end. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran bring hope of a new and revamped DC to the audience and restore their faith in the DC Universe as they plan to reboot the cinematic universe after the release of Aquaman 2 and the Lost Kingdom

While there was a lot of hype surrounding Aquaman 2, it seems to have received poor reactions during early test screenings. While it has not been confirmed as of yet, the reality will only be found out when the movie is released later this month.

Which DC-shared universe is coming to an end in 2024?

As revealed by the Warner Bros. studios, the Tomorrowverse is set to come to an end next year. The Tomorrowverse started back in 2020 with Superman: Man of Tomorrow and debuted its most recent film, Justice League: Warworld, in July this year. The animated universe has a total of six movies. 

The next film in the Tomorrowverse will be Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, it will be the final film in this animated saga. According to a press release from Warner Bros., the upcoming crossover event will be the concluding chapter. The press release read (Screen Rant):

“The filmmakers reveal in detail their intricate plan to create a comprehensive animated universe across seven films, concluding with the events of the three-part adaptation Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

The first part of Crisis on Infinite Earths is set to release on January 24, 2024, however, the other dates have not been confirmed as of yet.

James Gunn recently shared an exciting news for DC lovers

James Gunn joined the DC cinematic universe last year. Since then, he has been frequently sharing content from DC comics and DC studios in order to give fans updates about their upcoming projects. 

He recently did the same by confirming the release date of Superman: Legacy. While the movie was initially supposed to be released in 2025, there were recent rumors that suggested the film might be delayed.

However, as confirmed by James Gunn, the movie will be released on 11th July 2025. He said:

“Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025. ”

That said, it will be interesting to see how the highly anticipated movie does on the box office when it gets released in 2025.
