Actress Kathryn Newton is known for her role as Abigail Carlson in HBO’s mystery drama series Big Little Lies, and Allie Pressman in Netflix’s teen drama series The Society. The young actress portrayed the character of Cassie Lang in MCU’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania alongside Paul Rudd who plays Scott Lang/ Ant-Man in the movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania premiered in February 2023 and received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience. The highly talked about movie is now regarded as a disappointment at the box office for MCU and is also known to be one of the few movies from MCU that failed to impress the audience. Kathryn Newton however does not mind reprising her role as Cassie Lang in the future if given a chance.

Ant-Man 3 actress Kathryn Newton says she would very much jump at the opportunity to play Cassie Lang

Kathryn Newton is gearing up for her new movie Lisa Frankenstine; a twisted romantic-comedy, written by Diablo Cody. She stars opposite Cole Sprouse who plays a reanimated corpse in the movie. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she was asked about her view on Iman Vellani’s character Kamala Khan putting out a ‘feeler’ to Newton’s character Cassie Lang in The Marvels. Newton plays Paul Rudd‘s daughter in the MCU.

Kamala Khan’s act to put out a feeler was to ask Cassie to be a part of Young Avengers. She mentioned,

“I heard through Quantum Realm birdies. I heard that there was a cool tag, and I was pretty excited to see that and hear that.”

Kathryn Newton would love to play Cassie Lang once again

Talking about the opportunity to jump back into Cassie Lang’s character, Kathryn Newton mentioned,

“If I get an opportunity to continue the story, then that would be so cool to be a part of a generation that’s growing up with a film. It’s such a big part of my life. But they don’t really tell you. They tell you overall, but I don’t take anything for granted. I am just trying to get through the day. Let’s finish one movie and then let’s continue. But I would very much also jump at the opportunity to work with Marvel Studios again.”

Newton acknowledged that her hope for Cassie Lang has always been to grow with the audience, be it the people who are she and saw Ant-Man 3 or the ones who are just starting to watch Marvel movies.

Ant-Man 3 actress Kathryn Newton to be a part of Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan’s Young Avengers?

In 2023, during an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Iman Vellani addressed the Young Avengers vision adding that she sees her character as a potential leader for the team. She said,

“In my head, she’s going to be Captain America mixed with Nick Fury. She’ll know what’s on the roster for the day, but is also a natural born leader. It would be such a natural progression for her character to lead a team.”

The young actress didn’t mention who would possibly make it to the team but since the mention of Young Avengers in The Marvels, fans have been excited to hear more about the project. It is however unclear if Cassie Lang is going to be a part of Young Avengers or not even though she was mentioned by Kamala Khan towards the end and was sent feeler to join the team. Fans have theorized that Billy and Tommy Maximoff, Eli Bradley, and America Chavez could potentially be a part of the project.

Xochitl Gomez who plays America Chavez had shared with ComicBook.com last year that it would be really awesome to have a young, diverse cast altogether adding that just the thought of it is awesome.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania is streaming on Disney+.
