Months after Loki Season 2, the MCU is back with yet another series named Echo, which will follow the eponymous vigilante’s return to her hometown as she faces her past, tries to come to terms with her Native American roots, and embraces her family and community. Recently, a new trailer of the show has been released and it has got fans all excited.

Echo is the first major Native American character to be introduced in the MCU. It is going to be Alaqua Cox’s first acting role. In the new trailer, apart from Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is also seen, and much to fans’ delight, he is wearing the suit he wore for his portrayal of the superhero on Netflix.

Echo Trailer Reveals First Look at Charlie Cox’s Daredevil

Echo‘s new trailer was dropped recently and it showcases the violent nature of the show as the first scene is a fight sequence involving Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez. That scene is followed by some rather intense moments featuring Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Amidst all the action, a TV-MA rating is also included. In a move that is rare for Marvel Studios, the trailer features a traditional voiceover.

As already mentioned, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil makes an appearance in the trailer and his suit has got everyone talking. Not to mention that his mere presence in any project is enough to get fans all pumped up. For instance, his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans have successfully identified his suit and couldn’t have been more excited as they expressed their approval for it on X. One of them wrote: “Any MCU project with daredevil is automatically amazing”

Some MCU fans are a little skeptical about Echo getting her own series after her performance in Hawkeye. Hopefully, Echo will be good enough to impress them, and by the looks of it, Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil will definitely have some of them watching it.

What is Echo About

After the release of Avengers: Endgame, there have been numerous characters in the franchise that have been seen dealing with trauma and grief. Apparently, Echo is not going to be an exception. According to director and executive producer Sydney Freeland, the show is going to include Maya Lopez’s ancestral stories.

Explaining these darker themes of the show, Freeland said:

“Thematically, this show is sort of an exploration of trauma, how we deal with it, how we cope with it, how it affects us, how we affect it, how it affects those around us. The theme of the show is very much, we’re trying to be street, we’re operating a little more on a street-level sort of view. These aren’t cosmic consequences. It’s not the fate of the universe at stake. This is the fate of family.”

It has been confirmed that Echo started as a villain so what the audience is going to see is basically the origin story of the character and also the effect of the trauma on her family members.

Echo will be available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+ on January 9, 2024.
