“Anyone should be able to date who they want”: Camilla Morrone Says She Lost Her Identity By Dating Leonardo DiCaprio, Seemingly Blames Leo’s Age And Popularity For Their Breakup
Leonardo DiCaprio is an actor who belongs to another league altogether. Comparing him to just about anyone would be a huge folly. He’s a literal genius when it comes to acting, not to forget a 90s heartthrob too. Given his special pedigree, it is not a surprise that the acting virtuoso would have some unique traits. DiCaprio has an uncanny track record. And that track record doesn’t have anything to do with his acting graph. The Great Gatsby actor has never dated a girl who’s 26 years old. NEVER. And it looks like the curse of 26 has hit again as his relationship with Camila Morrone came to an end.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone break up
Leonardo DiCaprio has broken up with Camila Morrone after four years of being in a relationship. The two, who started seeing each other in 2017, were going strong and were even pictured recently having fun in Malibu. But two months down the lane, they have called it quits. That’s just how fast the night changes.
The two may have been dating as far back as 2017. But they made their relationship official in the year 2020 when they came together for the Oscars ceremony.
Camila Morrone says the person you’re dating shouldn’t be your identity
The reasons for their breakup are still unknown. But there is no doubt that it was something serious. Just two months before the break-up the two were seen engaged in a serious conversation in Malibu, where Leonardo DiCaprio could be seen comforting his (now ex) partner.
And the 25-year-old model had revealed that their relationship wasn’t secure in 2019 itself. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, she said: “I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating. … I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”
Age is just a number
Camilla Morrone even called out the people who were constantly at the duo’s case for having such a vast age gap. She said, “There are so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”
It’s sad that what she said back then has proved itself true after all this time. Morrone now joins the long list of people who couldn’t breach the 26-year mark, a list which includes the likes of Nina Agdal, Bar Rafaeli, and Blake Lively. One wonders how deep the 26-year-curse runs.
