Aquaman 2 Can Replace Amber Heard’s Mera With Another Intriguing Love Interest
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the sequel to 2018’s Aquaman and the thirteenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). This movie is will continue the adventures of Aquaman. The movie will be adding new elements, characters and concepts to his world where fans will get to see several returning faces. However, one character possibly might not return to the sequel. Mera, Aquaman’s love interest might not get into the Aquaman at all.
The strong character Mera is being sidelined due to off-stage drama and is being replaced by someone who is from Aquaman’s most popular era in the comics. The character Dolphin is from the DC comics Showcase that debuted many comics characters and she is one of them. Though she somewhat sunk into darkness, she was once an immensely crucial part of the Aquaman mythos.
According to a rumour, Mera could have been edged out of the throne putting Dolphin in as the queen of Atlantis. Let’s take a sneak peek at the history behind this ivory-tressed heroine, and how will she replace Amber Heard’s Mera from the DCEU.
Dolphin from The DC Comics
Though Dolphin became known in the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths run on Aquaman, she debuted in Showcase #79 back in 1968. Dolphin was created by Jay Scott Pike who debuted in Dolphin: Fantasy at 14 Fathoms. She is a white-haired human who by alien alterations thrives in deep sea depths. She didn’t have a major role until Peter David introduced a new version of her years later. After the modification in her character, she became an ally of Aquaman who lost his hand in a battle against the villainous Charybdis. She soon became infatuated with dour new Arthur Curry, which later blossomed into love.
Will Dolphin from the Comics Replace Mera played by Amber Heard in Aquaman 2
According to information by insiders, Dolphin will play some sort of role in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Though the events will quite be different from the comics something similar could happen with the DCEU flick.
Though Mera is somewhat(temporarily) out of the picture now as the ongoing trial of Amber Heard is affecting her role as Mera in Aquaman 2.
Due to the ongoing controversy, increasing numbers of DCEU fans have called for her removal from the film, with over 4 million people wanting Heard to be excised from Aquaman 2. According to recent reports, Heard was almost out as Mera in the film anyway, as Warner Bros. was not impressed with her chemistry with Jason Momoa. Another information is being come up that states Aquaman and Mera’s son will be introduced in the film.
This might be a possibility that DC might kill Mera to replace her with Dolphin who will ultimately become Aquaman’s love interest. Though this will permanently remove Mera from the scene which would be a possibility given that Amber Heard is tied up with the recent defamation trial.
