Chinese Canadian actor Simu Liu made history by becoming the first Asian MCU lead Superhero with Shang Chi and The Legend of 10 Rings released back in 2021. The film was a box-office success which is undoubtedly good news for the actor and the studio.

However, one interesting fact related to the project is that Liu’s casting as Shang Chi seems to have been a work of fate. Even before he ever auditioned for the role, the Barbie star had once tweeted about it addressed to the studio when the talk about the film started making the round.

Even though Simu Liu is a great actor, which is probably why he was cast as MCU’s  Shang Chi, it seems that somehow it all happened because he manifested it. Back in 2018 when they talked about a future project centered around MCU’s First Asian superhero had been going around, Liu tagged the studio by tweeting his wish and writing,

“OK @Marvel, are we gonna talk or what #ShangChi.”

This was before he auditioned and as far as anyone knows, all of the people involved in the filming including director Kevin Feige opened up about being unaware of the tweet before casting Liu. And because of this, the whole thing feels like the tweet helped manifest his wish.

While discussing this during a promotional event for the film Feige shared his thoughts regarding Liu’s tweet and his casting by saying,

“Unfortunately, Simu, it was not your tweeting. It was your acting ability, your constant professionalism”

At the same time, Kim’s Convenience Star mentioned that the “universe” had a role to play in making his dream come true.
