The movie is scheduled for release on November 22, 2024.

In recent interviews, she has admitted that she’d like to take up acting more, along with making music. However, a recently shared snippet of her singing in the movie has not only gone viral, but is also being compared to another actress who auditioned for the part.

The actress noted that ever since she starred in Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables adaptation, she felt like she needed to be better. Seyfried noted that she wishes she could redo Les Misérables because she disliked her singing voice in the movie. She mentioned that whatever musical comes next, she is now prepared.
Ahead of the release of the Wicked, in which Ariana Grande plays Glinda the Good Witch, a video of Seyfried singing Wicked’s Popular has resurfaced on the internet. Similarly, a video of Grande singing Popular was also shared, and fans were not happy. They took to social media to compare both actresses, with one user writing:

Another user wrote, ‘She sounds great, but it could’ve been so much better. There’s such a lack of emotion, and it sounds like she’s whispering. What a shame’. Another user wrote, ‘It sounds like she’s fighting herself on if she should sound like Kristen or Ariana, so it sounds messy‘.
Fans have also pointed out that there is a difference between Seyfried’s and Grande’s emotions while singing. Some users mentioned that even though Ariana Grande is a great singer and actress, her voice just doesn’t fit the character, which is disappointing.
It has been noted that Grande being compared to Seyfried is a little embarrassing for the singer. It’s because not only is her popularity in the music industry way more than Seyfried’s, but also because she has won two Grammy awards for her music and has been nominated about 15 times. Her vocals are strong and are often described as ‘soprano’.
However, many came out in support of Grande, stating that she was the perfect choice for the role, and that she was never meant to sound like Ariana Grande, but Glinda. In a recent interview with Deadline, the stars of Wicked revealed that they met at Cynthia Erivo’s house for five-hours before they tested out their vocals together at director Jon M. Chu’s house. Ervio shared,
Both of us made the decision and have had the discussion about really being good to each other, making space for each other, being honest with each other, and choosing to build our friendship.
Ariana Grande added that their friendship is going to continue to grow, noting that they made a conscious decision to take care of each other. The singer-actress added that their friendship is one of the things that they are most proud of. The actresses didn’t forget to give credit to their director Jon M. Chu, by saying that he is one of the most generous leaders.
The singer describes him as a genius, visionary, director, and art kid who makes sure to create the most warm, safe, and gracious space in the world. Erivo, also adding to the thought, noted that Jon M. Chu is one of the kindest people she’s ever met, who has a kid-like excitement about work and people.
In speaking to People, Grande shared that Jonathan Bailey, who played Winkie Prince Fiyero in the movie, took four hours to insert a flower into her voluminous wig. The actor said,
I had to put the flower in, which is incredibly romantic and easy. It took about four hours of trying to find the right place to put it.
Ariana Grande, however, added that the scene cuts before he puts it in. Wicked: Part One is set to be released on November 22, 2024.
