The next Avengers movie is coming up to be a giant and it might feature a whopping 60 superheroes. Originally, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was planned to be the title of the fifth Avengers movie. However, the movie’s title has been changed to simply Avengers 5 for now.

There’s even a chance that the movie title will change before it hits theaters in May 2026. The plot of the movie is still under wraps, but fans can look up to the massive team-up of favorite heroes. Maybe, it might also set the stage for another major MCU event, Avengers: Secret Wars!

The next Avengers movie would become the biggest one yet. According to the Deadline, sources say over 60 characters from the MCU could be returning, including familiar faces like Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Even newcomers like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) might be joining the fray!

This is a big shift from past Avengers movies, which usually focused on a smaller team led by Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow. This time around, it seems like all heroes will be on more equal footing, working together as a massive ensemble to face a yet-unknown threat. However, many fans think too many characters would mess with the storyline and its angle – which seems valid. Check out some fan reactions:

One thing is for sure: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty promises to be an epic throwdown, jam-packed with heroes (and maybe even more villains).

The upcoming Avengers movie might not be all about the antagonist Kang the Conqueror after all. The actor who played the character, Jonathan Majors, got into legal trouble due to an assault conviction in December, which led Marvel to cut ties with him. As a result, he will no longer appear in the film. This throws a wrench in the plans, because the title hints at a big role for Kang.

So, the movie might have a bunch of villains instead of just one. This could mean Kang gets a smaller part, or maybe even a new actor will play him. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Loki’s writer Michael Waldron is helping out with the script, so maybe some of the elements from Loki season 2 will tie in and Kang could still be around — but not as the main villain.

Nobody knows exactly what the story will be yet. And, since the Kang situation is up in the air, it’s unclear who the main bad guy will be, or if there will be more than one.
