‘Balenciaga severed their ties with Kanye West after 1 tweet. Now they apologize?’: Fans Blast Kim Kardashian, Balenciaga For Being Opportunistic Hypocrites, Demand Strict Action
Clothing brand Balenciaga has managed to completely wipe out its fanbase over the past few weeks. Balenciaga, which was considered a “high-society” clothing brand, faced backlash for a campaign that showed children holding teddy bears in bondage outfits. On top of that, another campaign included a Supreme Court decision on child pornography and a book about Belgian artist Michaël Borremans. The brand has apologized for the campaigns stating that the brand “strongly condemned” child abuse and said it never intended to “include it in our narrative.” However, many users on TikTok have posted of burning and cutting up their expensive clothes by Balenciaga.
People are boycotting Balenciaga and Kim Kardashian was targetted
Following the controversy, a lot of people shared videos of destroying clothing items made by Balenciaga. Many celebrities who were associated with the brand have taken a step back and boycotted them. However, Balenciaga ambassador Kim Kardashian has yet to part ways with them. The socialite doesn’t really need to hang on to the brand as her net worth currently stands at a whopping $1.8 billion, so cutting them off won’t really affect her. Many people have criticized the socialite for this as she only stated that she is “re-evaluating” her relationship with the brand.
Balenciaga’s controversy
Spanish fashion brand Balenciaga found itself in the media spotlight because of two ad campaigns, one with a child model holding a teddy bear in a bondage outfit and another featuring a Supreme Court decision on child pornography and a book about Belgian artist Michaël Borremans. People on social media have expressed their hate for the brand and even claimed that the brand cut ties with rapper Kanye West after one tweet but expects people to ignore their blunder.
Balenciaga severed their ties with @kanyewest due to a tweet.
Yet they expect us to just “accept their apology” after they get caught up sexualizing children?
They’re not apologizing because they’re sorry. They’re apologizing because they got caught.

We made Balenciaga popular. We now can make it very unpopular… never liked their stuff anyway!

That was very hypocritical. I also never understood luxury fashion getting into “street wear” they used to call us hoodlums back in the day.

Yet we got people here supporting the Kardashians who wear Balenciaga and pimp out their kids on a daily basis…
I don’t get it.— Psaratt (@Sunshineonetwo) November 23, 2022
The brand has stated that it “strongly condemned” child abuse and said it never intended to “include it in our narrative.” The brand posted,
“The two separate ad campaigns in question reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility.“
Balenciaga has sued the designers who came up with the idea
On Friday, it was revealed that Balenciaga is dropping a $25 million lawsuit against production outfit North Six and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins after its spring 2023 campaign included documents from a Supreme Court case about child pornography.
However, representatives for North Six and Des Jardins denied that they were responsible for it. Even several fashion experts have stated that they shouldn’t be blamed for a company’s advertisement.
