Will Smith is one of the best actors that the world has ever seen. The American actor first rose to fame back in 1990 for his role in the sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Before becoming one of the most established actors in the industry, Smith had first established himself as a famous hip-hop artist. The American actor was part of a hip-hop duo with DJ Jazzy Jeff. He even won 4 Grammy Awards back in the 90s, which further solidified his status as a hip-hop artist.

Will Smith reveals the reason why he never cussed in his records

Will Smith was different from other hip-hop rappers and that is a fact. In an interview with David Letterman in the series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Smith revealed why he was so different from other hip-hop artists. He said, “It was comedy, it was punchlines, it was fun. We stood out in a really good way. We sort of had our own lane.” The King Richard actor truly believed that this was the reason that he and DJ Jazzy Jeff made it big in the industry.

The actor further revealed that his grandmother wrote him a letter that said, “truly intelligent people do not have to use words like these to express themselves. Please show the world that you’re as smart as we think you are.” That was the reason that Smith never cussed in any of his records.

Eminem’s feud with the Emancipation actor

Will Smith had always been a critic of gangster rap songs and always took a stand against them. Back in 1999, Smith’s song beat out Eminem’s My Name Is at the VMAs for an award and his speech was somewhat of a dig to the rap community. Smith said,

To all my fans out there, I never killed nobody in none of my records. I never used no profanity and none of my records, and still, I managed to get up here. Peace.

However, Eminem is not the kind of guy to let these things slide without any retribution. In his single, The Real Slim Shady, the American rapper took a dig at Smith. Eminem called out Smith for not cussing in his songs and said,

Will Smith don’t gotta cuss in his raps to sell records. Well, I do, so f**k him and f**k you too. You think I give a damn about a Grammy, Half of you critics can’t even stomach me, Let alone stand me

Dr. Dre trolled Will Smith without him finding out about it

Dr. Dre and Will Smith collaborated for the Bad Boys II movie in 2003. The movie turned out to be a huge success for Smith and Dr. Dre also did some great work scoring the scenes of the movie. However, Dr. Dre’s friend, Bruce Williams once revealed that the Xxplosive rapper took a dig at Smith without him even finding out about it.

According to Williams, while scoring for a key scene in the movie, he and Dr. Dre “made sure that the music underneath that scene was the song,

“‘Bi**h Ni***z’ from The Chronic 2001 because that’s what we thought of that hater, Smith. We had to get our fun where we could.”
