Before becoming notorious for only dating women under age 25, Leonardo DiCaprio set his sights on Gwyneth Paltrow during their 90s film career heights. However, Paltrow recently confessed she declined the young DiCaprio’s repeated hookup attempts due to their incompatible personalities.
In a video for Goop, Paltrow reminisced about crossing paths with DiCaprio at the start of their Hollywood careers. DiCaprio doggedly tried seducing Paltrow, despite her gut instinct they weren’t a match.

Recently, Paltrow reminisced about DiCaprio doggedly asking her out to dinner despite her being in a relationship with Brad Pitt, her Seven co-star. “He was so cute and charming,” Paltrow said of fresh-faced DiCaprio, who was riding high from his first Oscar nod for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. “I just remember him being like, ‘Let’s go out, let’s get dinner.’ And I was like, ‘No, I have a boyfriend!’” Though flattered, Paltrow was wary of DiCaprio’s casual romantic reputation.
“I was like, ‘You’re too good-looking and too cool for me, I don’t know if we’d ever hang out,’” she explained. “There was something about me…I was like ‘I don’t think we’re a match.’”, as per an Interview. Though flattered by DiCaprio’s interest, Paltrow sensed they wanted different things romantically.

Paltrow also noted she avoids casual dating in favor of long-term relationships. “I was very much in the mindset of like, ‘I’m focused on my career,’” she said. “I just kind of like wanted a proper boyfriend.” The intuitive Paltrow correctly predicted she and serial modelizer DiCaprio would fizzle out long-term. Her wariness proved wise in retrospect.
