Black Adam: Producer Reveals Details About Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman
The movie Black Adam is about the title character Black Adam in a face-off against the Justice Society of America. So, one of the founding members of the society is Hawkman in the comics. He will now debut on the big screen in Black Adam, played by Aldis Hodge. The character Hawkman was introduced in the comics for the first time in 1940’s Flash Comics #1. He was originally an archeologist named Carter Hall. However, he soon discovers that he was an incarnation of an Egyptian Prince named Khufu. This was not it. Over the years, Hawkman had incarnated in different souls. Later on, when DC relaunched many of their heroes in the Silver Age with new origins, Hawkman was reintroduced as an alien police officer from the planet Thanagar named Kartar Hol.
Now you see how complicated Hawkman’s history is? So, it was natural for the fans to wonder in what form he will be shown in the upcoming movie Black Adam. So, producer Hiram Garcia revealed a few details about the character.
Hiram Garcia Clearing The Air
“And he brought such weight and poise and coolness to Hawkman. Hawkman’s already such a beloved character, but to watch Aldis take control of the character and portray a performance that alludes to a character who has dealt with so much, has been around for so many years. Obviously, reincarnations, iterations, and for fans that are familiar with Hawkman, they know what a bit of a tragic past and love story he has. That Aldis was really able to tap into it. And not to mention, he also got in incredible shape.
I remember the first time we finally got in-person in Atlanta and he was jacked. I like to call it the Dwayne Johnson effect where any actor who’s around Dwayne’s like, “Oh, I’ve got to up my game.” And he came in, in incredible shape. His arms were huge. And just, and he’s also really skilled just on top of his acting, but physically as an athlete and as a tactician, when it comes to martial arts and so forth.
He had covered every aspect. He had dedicated so much time to want to cover everything with Hawkman that I think fans are going to really be excited with the energy he brings to the character. And also just the coolness that he takes his character who’s been around forever. But seeing it through Aldis’ eyes is really fun.”
Hawkman In Black Adam:
It looks like the character Hawkman is important in DC comics. So, he may be important in the DCEU as well. Moreover, Garcia confirmed that several spin-off films are possible from Black Adam and Hawkman’s solo outing can be one of them. DC and Warner Bros. tried focusing on Hawkman’s solo way back in the 2010s. However, the focus was soon shifted to Man Of Steel, and Hawkman’s debut was nowhere to be seen! But with the upcoming movie, looks like DCEU will see more DC characters in the future.
