2024’s It Ends With Us starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and more is one of the most talked about movies, and the conversation is not about the movie. Upon release, the movie received mixed reactions from the audience as well as the critics.
Directed by Baldoni, the movie that is based on Colleen Hoover’s popular and successful novel deals with the theme of domestic violence and emotional abuse and now its success has been plagued because of the scandal-turned-legal battle.
Lively’s promotional tour for the movie, which did not include her addressing the themes of the movie and instead projected it as a romantic movie, divided the fans with a lot of them questioning her ethics. In her December 2024 lawsuit, she accused Justin Baldoni and his partner Jamey Heath of alleged inappropriate behavior on set.
Lively also mentioned that they orchestrated a smear campaign against her as she stood up to him. Baldoni filed a lawsuit against NYT and a second lawsuit against Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Now new allegations have surfaced, which makes their lawsuit even messier.
It Ends With Us actress Jenny Slate reportedly filed a complaint about feeling uncomfortable on set
According to a recent report by THR, actress Jenny Slate, who played Allysa in It Ends With Us, had reportedly filed a complaint to the film’s distributor after her conversation with Jamey Heath made her feel uncomfortable. The publication reported that Slate, who shares 4-year-old daughter Ida with husband Ben Shattuck, had rented an apartment near the location of the movie.
However, she wasn’t happy with the apartment she was living in but couldn’t move because she had paid a hefty amount for a security deposit and expressed her concerns to the production company. Although Heath has allegedly told the actress that the company would reimburse her so that she could find a better place to live with her daughter. But the language used by Heath is what made Jenny Slate uncomfortable.

The publication mentioned that the president of Wayfarer Studios was intensely focused on the sanctity of motherhood and the actress’ role as a mother. Sony Pictures had to intervene, but Heath had shared that even when their company offered to help her out, it was used against them.
Earlier this week, Blake Lively filed an amended lawsuit in which she mentioned that more women are willing to testify. There is no evidence that one of the women who were willing to testify included Slate.
Another woman had allegedly filed a complaint three days after Lively filed her lawsuit. Jenny Slate back in December shared a message in support of Blake Lively and wrote (via Today),
As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation. Blake is a leader, a loyal friend, and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.
Slate added that what has been revealed about the attack on Lively is terribly dark, disturbing, and wholly threatening. The actress noted that she admires Lively’s bravery and stands by her side.
Blake Lively requests court to safeguard certain information after receiving sexist and threatening messages
After Blake Lively’s complaint against Justin Baldoni and Jamey Heath was made public, the world has been divided between Team Blake and Team Baldoni. Apart from revealing that Jenny Slate had also felt uncomfortable on set, the Gossip Girl actress is requesting the court to keep certain information away from the press.
Reportedly, Lively and others are receiving violent, profane, sexist, and threatening messages online as a result of her filing a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. According to Variety, the information that the actress is requesting the court to keep away includes compensation information, profitability reports, ownership of companies, creative ideas, films, scripts, photos, videos, and health records.
Lively’s attorney noted that one witness who supports the actress got a threatening message that stated that they’d s**ually assault and k**l their family after their texts were included in Baldoni’s amended lawsuit. The actress’s attorney also mentioned that she has also been subjected to p*rnographic trolling on social media.
In response to Lively’s request, Baldoni’s attorney said that just like her, Justin Baldoni has received violent threats as well. They said,
Anyone receiving violent messages from anonymous parties is abhorrent. No one should have to face that, especially private parties who do not have means for security detail.
The publication mentioned Judge Lewis Liman has asked the parties to submit a proposed protective order by March 11, 2025. The case goes to trial on March 9, 2026.
