After a good 13-season run, Tom Selleck starrer Blue Bloods is coming to an end with 14th season being the last, and the actor is not happy about it. It was announced in November 2023 that the police procedural drama series will come to its conclusion with its 14th season. The first ten episodes of 14th season premiered in February 2024, and the remaining eight episodes will premiere on October 18, 2024, with its finale episode airing on December 13, 2024.
Tom Selleck, who plays Frank Reagan on the show, was asked about how he feels about the show coming to an end during an interview with TV Insider. The actor said,
The actor mentioned that his frustration is with the fact that the show has always been taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. Selleck added that according to him, it’s going to take a long time for him to sort his feelings out. Upon asking what is one thing that he is going to miss the most from the Blue Bloods set, Selleck said the actors.
He mentioned that the actors on the show are as close as the Reagan family on the show. Selleck shared with the publication that there is not a single person who didn’t want to come back, noting most shows do not end that way. The actor was also asked if there was something that he regretted story-wise, to which he said,
Tom Selleck teased that there is a lot of fun stuff that takes place in the final episode of the show, noting that Frank is a constant. He concluded that he remains a man alone, and he is a police commissioner.
Blue Bloods’ cancellation worries Tom Selleck for a valid reason
The actor, in his interview with Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning, shared that he hopes that he keeps working enough to hold onto his 63-acre ranch in Ventura County, California. Tom Selleck bought the ranch, which used to be an avocado farm, in 1988 after he decided to quit Magnum: PI.
Upon asking if that’s going to be an issue if he stops working, he said,
Tom Selleck has no plans to step away from acting, noting that he likes the fact that there are no excuses; actors just go to work and do their jobs. He added that he has a lot of reverence for what he calls ‘the work’, and he loves it.
In 2020, the actor shared about his ranch with People, in which he mentioned that his relationship with his ranch keeps him sane. He added he does the grunt work and makes rounds. The actor didn’t want his beloved show to end because he explained that Blue Bloods is the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. He added that everyone on the show wants to come back, and they are still holding their place.
However, the show will conclude in December 2024. Blue Bloods is available to stream on Hulu.
