One of the highly anticipated sports drama action movies, F1, starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, and more, is based on the automobile racing championship created in collaboration with the FIA. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the story will follow a former Formula 1 driver returning to the sport, where he partners with and mentors a rookie teammate for the fictional team. 7-time Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton serves as the producer of the movie under his TV production company, Dawn Apollo Films.
The filming of the movie took place at the actual Formula 1 events, including last year’s British Grand Prix and the Rolex 24 at the Daytona sports car race. Reports have suggested that the movie is going to feature about 10 Formula 1 teams and their respective drivers. Fans have been very excited about the movie’s premiere. With a recent addition to the cast and crew, fans have good reason to believe that F1 is probably going to be one of the best movies.
Hans Zimmer to compose a score for Brad Pitt starrer F1
According to Culture Crave, legendary music composer Hans Zimmer is reportedly composing the score for the Brad Pitt-starrer F1 movie, which is scheduled for release in 2025. Zimmer is the one behind an impressive and exceptionally beautiful score in Dune Parts, Interstellar, Inception, The Lion King, and more. The Academy Award-winning music composer’s involvement with the project was revealed at the Austrian Grand Prix, where he performed the Austrian national anthem on his electric guitar.
This is not the first time Zimmer is going to composed a score for an F1 movie, as he also composed a score for Ron Howard’s Rush, which recounts the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. However, this is going to be Zimmer’s first collaboration with Lewis Hamilton since they first met at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2019.
Fans of Zimmer took to their social media to express their excitement for the upcoming project and now for Zimmer’s music. One of the users wrote, ‘He is one of the greatest music composers ever, no doubt,’ with another one remembering his work on Rush and writing.

He did well on Rush, so I have no doubts he will create something great for this film. It would be awesome if he used and adapted Brian Tyler’s current F1 theme. A third user stated, ‘another Oscar-winning soundtrack for the greatest composer of all time.’

Joseph Kosinski talks about the involvement of 7-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in F1
During an interview with Deadline, the director, Joseph Kosinski, was asked about how much Lewis Hamilton was involved in the process of making the movie. The seven-time F1 world champion is serving as the producer of the movie, and Kosinski replied
He’s the first person I contacted three years ago. I knew that for us to make it as authentic as possible, someone on the team who lives it day in and day-out would be invaluable. Lewis has been an incredible partner; he jumps on Zoom with me between races to go through the script, line by line, turn by turn, you know, tire compound by tire compound, to make sure that we are getting all the details right. Beyond that, on a creative level and story level, he also has input.
Jerry Bruckheimer is also one of the producers of the movie. He shared during the interview that in the first conversations they had with Hamilton, he told them that there has yet to be a film that captures what it feels like to be in a Formula 1 car. So, their goal has been to put the audience in one of the incredible machines. There had been rumors that the budget of the movie is near about $300 million, about which Konsiski said during the interview;
I’m just going to say I’m used, on a lot of movies I’ve worked on, to having them over-reported for whatever reasons, but I’ve never had an experience where they were off by this much on a film. I’m not sure where that number came from.
Bruckheimer refused to give a number for the budget of the movie and stated that it’s Apple’s money, and if someone can talk about it, it’s them. He, however, added that the budget is quite a bit lower than what’s reported. The producer also mentioned that before the SAG-AFTRA strikes, Brad Pitt was trained to drive an F1 for three months. He added that they started with Formula 3 and then moved up to Formula 2. The producer noted that Lewis said that they’re terrific and was impressed with their driving.
F1 is scheduled for release on June 27, 2025, with a later release on Apple TV+.
