Brie Larson Was “Traumatized” By Jennifer Lopez as a Child Despite Calling the Grammy-Nominated Singer Her God
Actress Brie Larson is one of the most influential people in the world, especially after she starred as Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain Marvel in 2019. The actress, who was skeptical about taking up the role of Captain Marvel initially, stated that she took it as a platform to empower young women and found a connection with her character’s flaws and humanity. Captain Marvel was Marvel Studios’ first female-led movie. Despite success and fame, the actress recently went viral with her endearing reaction to meeting Jennifer Lopez at the Golden Globes 2024.

Brie Larson talks about her red-carpet meeting with Jennifer Lopez
Brie Larson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where she explained that she was overwhelmed on the red carpet of the Golden Globes 2024 upon meeting Grammy-nominated singer Jennifer Lopez.
Larson began to explain,
“My mom took me to the theatre to see Selena as a kid, and it traumatized me, but also it was like, ‘That’s what I want to do with my life’. So she just kind of doesn’t really exist to me as like a human being, she’s like my God.”
The actress further shared with Jimmy Kimmel that someone asked her if she had not realized she could actually end up meeting Jennifer Lopez. To this, she replied claiming that she didn’t think that day would actually come. The reason according to Brie Larson is that in her world, she and Jennifer Lopez exist on the opposite sides of the TV.
The video of Brie Larson on the red carpet of the Golden Globes 2024 talking to ET was shown when she spotted Lopez and started to fangirl over the singer-actress. When Lopez went up to embrace the actress, she told her that she was a huge fan.
Larson said to Lopez,
“I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actor. You’ve always meant so much to me…it’s been a dream of mine to meet you so thank you so much. Your work ethic is so important. Thank you!”
Marvel actress also mentioned to JLO that she had been wanting to meet her for a long time, adding that she didn’t think it was going to be on the red carpet.
Jennifer Lopez acknowledges Brie Larson’s emotional response upon meeting her at the Golden Globes 2024
Jennifer Lopez appeared on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 interview where she was asked about her emotional and endearing interaction with Marvel actress at the Golden Globes 2024 red carpet. To this, she said,
“It brings tears to my eyes now because it’s very, very moving, because you do, you give your heart and soul to this when you’re an artist.”
She explained that she understood how Larson must have been feeling at the time because she had the same feeling when she first met the celebrities she had looked up to when she was younger. She said,
“I remember being a little girl and watching West Side Story and seeing Rita Moreno and knowing what that meant for me. When I was looking at Brie and I saw her and I was staring in her eyes because was so locked in with me and just was like, ‘I have wanted to tell you this for so long’,…I saw myself and I saw the little girl and to think that I did that for somebody was really really overwhelming.”
Jennifer Lopez lastly added that it was lovely for her to have an experience like that.. Lopez appreciated Larson and said that it meant a lot to her.
