This movie is a retelling of the classic tale of Kaguya. In this movie, Kaguya comes out of a utility pole and is discovered by Iroha, who is a high school girl living alone in Tokyo after her father’s death. Together, they enter Tsukuyomi, which is a virtual reality world, and start making music.
The story goes sideways when the moon people actually come back looking for Kaguya, and now Iroha must do everything in her power, along with her friends, to protect her. It’s a really fun take on a traditional story, and is totally worth watching.

Now, Kanna must take over the role and responsibilities that her mother had. It’s an amazing story about grief and how children process it, and it’s totally worth a watch if you like the traditional Japanese aspect.
