Gal Gadot explains how 2017’s Wonder Woman’s success inspired Heart of Stone

During an interview with People, Gal Gadot shared that the success of her 2017’s DCEU release Wonder Woman inspired her to work on her upcoming movie. She said, “I realized there’s more room for these types of movies to be led by women. And we just went for it.”

But she also mentioned, “I didn’t want this to be another Wonder Woman film. So the whole idea was to create a film that would be grounded, and the action would be raw and dynamic. When she gets hit, you feel the pain in her, so it’s a lot different. We had to work out and train and prep for months before even filming this film.”

Talking about her character, she said that Stone is raw and gritty and it does get messy at times, recalling that she remembers that there were days when she had no makeup on and they just made her even more ugly as the makers added redness and grayness to her face. The actress noted that she wanted to show an unpolished woman who can go through the stress and come out of it essentially at the end of the day.

After biting into some spicy chicken during her appearance on Hot Ones, Gadot begins to discuss her health routine as a philosophy of life. She states that everything is a journey and points out that everything that individuals do is a journey. She compares it to her exercise routine and says that although she despises leg day, she still does it anyhow, adding, “But I should say I love it.” The interview was filmed before the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Jamie Dornan praises fellow co-star Gal Gadot

Jamie Dornan, who also appears in the movie, said that he wants to be a supporter of female-led movies whenever he can and he is very happy to be by Gadot’s side in this movie and watch women kick ass.

In his interview with Digital Spy before the SAG-AFTRA strike, he noted, “Heart of Stone is different because it gives those missions to a woman. It’s much more where we need to be headed at the moment, after decades and decades of male-driven spy thrillers. And I think it’s time to mix that up, not just have the females in those movies just be the sort of vacuous eye-candy that sometimes happens.”

Dornan, popularly known for playing Christian Grey, said it’s going to be the first of many action films which will see women taking charge, and he is glad that the cinema is heading towards these movies. He also took the opportunity to praise the actress by stating, “Gal Gadot has been at the forefront of that, and that’s only a good thing.”

He further added, “Gal’s very at home in this world, she’s at home kicking ass, and it’s very cool to see because she does it with utter professionalis’Haer m, but also with [a] real sense of fun. I think anyone who gets in this industry usually is, because they want to work hard but have fun doing it, and Gal is the embodiment of that. We had a great time, and she’s going to be a great friend of mine.”
