After months of delay, the Tory Lanez 2020 shooting trial finally commenced on 13th December. The allegations were put forward by Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. However, the singer was deeply emotional while she testified in court on the first day of trial. Seemingly, the incident had a huge impact on her as she even mentioned her will to rather be dead than deal with the case. The Savage singer’s allegations back in 2020, divided the hip-hop /rap community mostly due to the existing misogyny inside it. On the first day of the shooting trial, Megan Thee Stallion stood up in court to testify against Tory Lanez. Naturally, facing her shooter made her uncomfortable. And during the second half of the testimony, the Savage singer got deeply emotional. She teared up several times.

According to her, the shooting incident impacted her deeply as the aftermath had been worse than the actual one. The Best Friend singer expressed her emotion by saying,

I wish he would’ve just killed me if I knew I’d have to go through this”

As Stallion had to retell the details of the incident and face someone who shot her once, she was clearly upset and even mentioned it to the jury before getting into the chain of events that triggered the incident saying,

I can’t believe I have to come up here and do this”.

The Savage hitmaker expressed that the lack of support from the rap and hip-hop community afterward the allegations had made things worse for her. She noted that the industry is male-dominated automatically led most fellow hip-hop artists to take Lanez’s side. Evidently, in 2020 after the allegations, Drake clearly came to the Canadian rapper’s defense. Further Stallion also mentioned that speaking up against a male rapper in a male-dominated field would definitely result in sl**-shaming/misogynoir against her.

As recounted by Megan Thee Stallion while testifying in court, the whole incident resulted after she belittled Tory Lanez’s musical talent. Both of them had been dating at the time. And they had been leaving a Hollywood party hosted by Kylie Jenner. An argument ensued in the car between the Stallion and Lanez. Kelsey Nicole had also been also in the car with them.

According to the WAP singer, the argument prompted her to get out of the car. Then out of nowhere Lanez pointed a gun at her and shot her in the feet. Stallion claimed that after shooting her the Say It rapper said,

“Don’t say anything and I’ll give you a million dollars”

She also mentioned Lanez was apparently more concerned about going to jail than shooting someone.

As for the trial, it is still in the process and ongoing cater it commenced on the 13th of this month. A huge number of Stallion’s supporters came out that day to show their support by standing outside the court.
