Captain Marvel took place in the year 1995 and we get to see the post-credit scenes from the past and the future of the MCU. It is also said that the sequel to this film will also have the same approach. In a recent interview, the co-director of the movie Anna Boden told Comicbook.com –
It’s interesting that you say that because the very first Kelly Sue DeConnick Captain Marvel comic I read is like travelling through the past and almost like a rewriting of her origin story – which, this has some elements of that.
Mid-Credits Scene:
The mid-credits section of Captain Marvel was a cherry on top for the fans as they show an extended clip from ‘Avenger: Endgame’. It is very clear that Captain Marvel is going to take place remarkably early in the upcoming sequel to Avengers: Infinity War.

The scene starts with Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanov, Bruce Banner, and James Rhodes who are seen at the Avengers facility in upstate New York. The pager which Nick Fury dropped in the Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene can be seen with them. It was provided by Carol Danvers in the ’90s to reach her in case of dreadful emergencies. As half of the universe was disappearing before Nick Fury’s eye, he made the first call to the remarkably powerful superhero. Steve, Natasha, Rhodey, and Bruce are trying to figure out the function of this pager while they are hooking it up to new batteries as a means to keep it going. Out of nowhere, the pager suddenly stops, and the remaining Avengers are puzzled.
When Natasha and Steve declare they want to get the pager turned back on, Natasha turns around and she saw that Captain Marvel had answered the call. She quickly arrives at the Avengers facility and asks one question: “Where’s Fury?”
Mid-Credits Explained:
As we can still see Captain America’s beard in the footage, it seems this moment will happen early in the movie and before most of the footage which was shown in trailers. It also confirms that a character was edited out of the most recent promo for Avengers: Endgame.

Post-Credits Scene:
After Nick Fury decides to move forward in attempting to create The Avengers Initiative, Goose (the cat) is left behind in his office. Goose hops up on Nick Fury’s desk and he begins to cough up a hairball. After few seconds of heaving, he coughs up the Tesseract onto Fury’s desk.
Post-Credits Explained:
In the movie, Goose (the cat) is revealed to be a Flerken. It is an alien species that looks like a cat but can devour things with huge tentacles that come out of its mouth. During the movie, Goose swallows the Tesseract to keep it away from Star Force the Kree’s Seal Team 6, led by Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg, which Carol is a member of at the beginning of the movie.
