Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr Back in Secret Wars? Deadpool 3 Reportedly Bringing Back Prime Version of Each Marvel Hero to Fight Kang
With each passing day, a new rumor is sparked about the upcoming MCU Phase 5 movie Deadpool 3. Each of these rumors sets the MCU fandom abuzz with new speculations and expectations. The movie was set to be released on May 3, 2024, but the date is obviously subject to change due to any unforeseeable circumstances that arise.
Meanwhile, sources are coming up with some interesting information about the plot of Deadpool 3, or just a little tidbit about the characters. While there has been no official announcement about the movie’s plot, a source has recently revealed a rather intriguing piece of information that has left fans wondering if the movie is going to pave the way for the return of some long-gone superheroes such as Chris Evans’ Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Deadpool 3 Might Bring Back Lost Superheroes in Avengers: Secret Wars
The third installment of Deadpool is going to be a follow-up to 2018’s Deadpool 2 which was a part of the X-Men franchise. However, Marvel acquiring the rights to the franchise has made the forthcoming second sequel a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The movie is going to have an ensemble cast with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. Hugh Jackman will also be reprising his role as the mutant Wolverine from X-Men. The film is rumored to be dealing with the multiverse.
A source on X MyTimeToShineH has recently revealed the movie’s synopsis as:
Deadpool 3 is about the TVA picking up the PRIME versions of each hero to create a multiversal army to fight the Kangs. And they picked Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to recruit but he’s not fully on board. That is what the movie is about.
This raises the question of whether or not Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the characters that they retired from after the release of Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Secret Wars which is set to be released in 2027 will reportedly see Marvel superheroes fighting Kang the Conquerer so it remains to be seen which heroes will be taking part in the battle.
Deadpool 3 Will Not Be Released On The Previously Scheduled Date
The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has put some of the biggest Hollywood productions on hold as actors rightfully refuse to go back to work until they reach an agreement with the studios. According to Deadline, apart from discussing the extent of the use of AI, the studios are also being urged to pay extra compensation for streaming shows.
This has pulled the brakes on some of the biggest projects that were scheduled to be released in 2024 including Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 8, Disney’s Snow White, Pixar’s Elio, and Marvel’s Deadpool 3. The latter of these was set to be released in the first week of May, but will now have to be pushed further due to the incomplete filming.
So far, only 50 percent of the filming of Deadpool 3 has been completed. With the strike hopefully coming to a close shortly, the filming will be resumed in January 2024.
