Actor Chris Hemsworth, best known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been open about how, as a father, he wants his daughter to focus on enjoying childhood rather than acting.

Hemsworth talked about an encounter he had with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger while both of them were present at the same event while walking the red carpet at a Netflix event in Brazil. The Marvel actor most recently starred in Extraction 2 on Netflix, which was well-received by viewers.

Chris Hemsworth is proud of his daughter’s MCU debut

Chris Hemsworth is married to model and actress Elsa Pataky and the couple are parents to three kids, India Rose, Sasha, and Tristan. India Rose made her on-screen debut in Thor: Love and Thunder as the daughter of actor Christian Bale’s character Gorr the God Butcher.

By the end of the movie, her character is revived by Eternity itself and ends up under the care of Thor Odinson, played by Hemsworth. The actor during Netflix’s Tudum: A Global Fan event in Brazil shared with Entertainment Tonight that he is very proud of his daughter for stealing the scene with her performance in the movie.

But that does not mean that the actor is excited to see her on-screen, that he is in a hurry to line up a new project for her and leave her childhood behind to focus on work. He said, “That was originally supposed to be just a super-quick little moment in the film, and then the character expanded due to the story changing. I said, ‘Oh, do you want to do some dialog in the film?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah, cool!’”

Chris Hemsworth wants India Rose to have a childhood

Hemsworth shared during a brief conversation that while his daughter stole the scene when she appeared on-screen and acted like she was a professional and loved every second of it, he would like her to have a childhood. He also said that he thinks that his daughter wants the same.

The Marvel actor explained, “I said, ‘There’s plenty of time, sweetie. Go to school, horse ride, have fun, be a kid.’ Because once the train moves, it’s pretty hard to get off, and you miss a lot of things.” One of their twins also made a brief appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder as young Thor.

The kids were on the set of Extraction 2 with Hemsworth as he mentioned to People magazine last week at the premiere that his kids love it adding that they were on set to see all the stuff happening and wanted to jump in front of the camera and participate. Talking about India’s acting career, he added that when she gets old and if she’s keen to do more things, he’d be up for it.

Last year, during an interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth shared that because he has been so busy with work, he feels that he has maybe missed out on moments with his children and he struggled with the demands of his busy career and his desire to be a present dad to his three children. He said at the time, “Doing an episode on death and facing your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh God, I’m not ready to go yet'”.

Chris Hemsworth enjoyed his ‘gym-time’ with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Hemsworth and Arnold Schwarzenegger met at Netflix’s Global Fan Event and they got a chance to hang out at the gym. Talking about the same, the Marvel actor said, “That was cool, yeah, that was the highlight of my life. I saw him in the gym and I was like, ‘Oh my god! That’s Arnold!’ And the heart rate goes up a bit, there’s nervous trepidation. ‘He’s like, Chris! Oh, hey, how are ya?’ And we had a chat. He’s wonderful.”

The actor further added, “A lot of the films he’s done have inspired action [films] to this day and certainly myself and [Extraction 2 director] Sam [Hargrave] referenced a lot of his films. There’s a scene where I’m on top of a train holding a big minigun and I was like, ‘We gotta do the Arnold Commando shot!’ and so that’s an homage to him and all the incredible things he’s done on screen.”

Hemsworth lastly added that at the gym everything was respectful, supportive training and he, is just happy, but he also noted that he did not want to get on the competitive side of the actor.

Extraction 2 is streaming on Netflix.
