The story depicts the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer a theoretical physicist who was the first to develop a nuclear weapon. Crafted with a budget of $100 million this movie is full of talented actors like Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh. Even though the cast contains one of the biggest Hollywood stars, the recent news of Cillian Murphy’s fees has sent shock waves down the industry.

After playing a supporting role in Christopher Nolan movies for more than two decades, Cillian Murphy was offered a lead role in the directors’ new film Oppenheimer. The well-known ‘Peaky Blinder’s’ star has emerged in global stardom recently through his awestruck performance and has been able to gain a 12% of payment from the ‘Oppenheimer’ $100 budget. Murphy’s exceptional acting in the role of ‘Oppenheimer’ the father of the atomic bomb has the audience mesmerized.

Ever since 2005, Cillian Murphy has been a part of Christopher Nolan’s breathtaking movies several times. Before giving Murphy a lead role in ‘Oppenheimer’, Nolan had collaborated with him during projects like ‘Batman Begins (2005)’, ‘The Dark Knight (2008)’, ‘Inception (2010)’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises (2012)’ and ‘Dunkirk (2017)’. Although in almost all of these movies, Cillian Murphy was a supporting character. This new biographical thriller has provided Murphy with a new opportunity to showcase his talent and excellent acting skills.

Even though the other actors in the movie were not paid anywhere near Cillian Murphy, they still got a handsome amount from the overall budget. As per the reports Matt Damon was willing to lower his prices just to be part of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’. Even after lowering his prices, Damon charged $3 million for playing the character of Leslie Groves. While Emily Blunt the actor from ‘The Devils Wear Prada’ took a paycheck of $4 million, Robert Downey Jr. who played the character of Lewis Strauss in the movie also charged $4 million. Other supporting actors like Florence Page who played the character of Jean Tatlock charged $1 million and Benni Sadie who played the role of Edward Teller made $700,000. Furthermore, Michael Angarano and Josh Harnett were paid $500,00 and $400,000 respectively.
‘Oppenheimer’ was released into theaters on 21st July 2023 and since then the movie has been able to gain tremendous love from the audience. Even though this is one of the most lest publicized movies of Christopher Nolan, the box office collection of the movie speaks a lot about this exceptional work. Cillian Murphy’s with his outstanding acting skill has added a lot more meaning to the character of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
