Keeping the hope aside for Hill to return, Cobie Smulders wants the public to know that she doesn’t want anyone to be upset about Mariah Hill’s outcome because she believes in Marvel was “I mean, listen, it would’ve been great – of course, I would’ve loved to do more, but I trust that Marvel is doing the storyline that they think is best.”

The How I Met Your Mother actress has previously denied being on the sets of The Marvels. However, nothing can be said when it’s Marvel.

The first episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion was released where, towards the end, the audience saw Maria Hill bleeding to death after she was shot by Fury (Gravik) and ending the life of a beloved character. She added, “Maria Hill’s passing is very real, and it’s shocking, and it feels very human. It was a sad day. I don’t think I’ve ever died on camera. I got a real death scene!”

If the comic books are to be believed, Hill does indeed perish in the Secret Invasion before revealing that she was not actually hers and escaping the Skrulls later. Director of Secret Invasion Ali Selim revealed that he was instructed not to read the comics, so it is unclear which direction the film will take.

During an interview, Smulders was asked about her feeling of knowing that it would be Samuel L. Jackson shooting her as Gravik, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, shapeshifted into Nick Fury to assassinate her.

The actress stated, “I haven’t thought about that since I saw it, but you’re reminding me that it was a little weird. Maybe it was more weird for Sam; you’d have to ask him. But, yeah, it was strange and kind of dark, wasn’t it? It was kind of weird on the day, because that very violent moment was followed by a very emotional moment that Sam and I got to share.”

Smulders observed that it was anxiety, worry, and the pain of the loss, combined with violence, and it ended on an emotional note, so she concentrated more on the aftermath than the evil of him doing that. She added that she was surprised that the ending remained a secret because there were so many people working on the set.

She lastly added, “I’m proud and excited that I have got the opportunity to play Maria Hill over the last 10 years in films and television and in animated form.”

Secret Invasion is available to watch on Disney+, with new episodes dropping weekly.
